I don't pop on here too too often lately as other things have had me busy but now that the racecars are put away for the winter I have a little more free time so I thought I would do something. Still working on this, but here is a current, pretty much unmixed version of what I did. Just kind of did this out of pure boredom. Always been one of my favorite songs by them, but I never bothered to try and learn it until yesterday and figured what the hell, I'll record it.

I am absolutely terrible at programming drums so I found an MP3 of a Karaoke drum backing track for the song and used it       Would love to hook up with someone who actually knows what they are doing and put better drums into this.

Anyway here is the link... https://soundcloud.com/phil-jacques-243 ... stone-sour

For the curious and nerdy ones, I am using Reaper and going direct in using cab sims with a Rivera RockCrusher. I used 2 amps to record and 2 guitars. Below is a rundown...

Amp 1 - EVH 5153
Amp 2 - Fryette Pittbull Ultralead
Cab Sim - Orange PPC412
Guitar 1 - ESP/Ltd MH250NT w/EMG 81 Bridge
Guitar 2 - Schecter Tempest w/DiMarzio D'Activator Bridge
Maxon OD808 Clean Boost
MXR Carbon Copy

All into Focusrite Scarlet 2i2

I ain't the best at this so don't hammer at me, I know the quality isn't the best but for about 5 hours of work I think it came out decent.

I'm not familiar with Stone Sour's music at all but otherwise I think that came pretty good man

Thanks man! I sent a buddy of mine the stems tonight and he is going to re do the drums and track bass in his studio down in Orlando and then my brother out on Long Island is going to drop some Vocals over it as well and then it will get mixed back at my buddies in Orlando again. Gotta live the interwebz and the ability to bounce files all over the country to do this. I'm excited to see how this comes out in the final rendition. I don't play regularly anymore so it's fun to do this on occasion.

am i hearing this right that the first minute is the fryette, then after 1:00 it's the 5153 and then the combined sound?
there's this growly barky almost hollow but yet defined sound which i bet is the ultralead cause that's how i remember it

It's actually mostly double tracked throughout 99% of the song is the 5150 and Fryette side by side. I played the LTD through the 5153 and the Schecter through the Fryette. In some instances, I used the Fryette more, that may be what you are hearing. It's actually the first time that amp has left it's spot on the shelf in my closet in 3 years lol I just grabbed it cause it was on top and wanted to add a little diversity to the song.
