I too despise the time-wasting, mouth-breathing low-ballers that are rampant these days. I've started just keeping gear that I have absolutely no use for, rather than sell to the idiots. I used to dump gear generally at a loss, figuring that it was the price of admission for getting to try gear. But screw it... it can just pile-up like a hoarder house for all I care. Not going to give some douchebag the satisfaction of getting a stupid deal.

Last year, I was selling a dead-mint Schecter C7 Elite 7-string, with deluxe padded Profile gig bag and three extra new sets of strings. I was asking $400. I would have entertained lower offers, but some little worthless puke who calls himself "Lord Kaos" responded and offered $175. I didn't even bother responding. He contacted me again with that offer. I replied very nicely that it just wasn't a serious enough offer. He then proceeded to threaten me and call me every name in the book. I was going to ignore it, but I calmly responded "exactly what I would have expected from an immature kid who calls himself 'Lord Kaos'. I'll bet there are GREAT things in store for you bright future." Friggin stupid little tard.

During trade talks, people who present as if "keep in mind my stuff retained 90% value while your stuff is down at least 50%"

This is the most annoying of all. People who act tough through the internet. I'm sure he's the first to piss himself when shit goes down in real life. His Mom has to bring him a pop tart to calm him down and give him his add meds

Amateur forum buyers.

I hate this. I seriously hate amateur guitar buyers. Stop messing around on forums buying used guitars if you have no idea what you're doing.

It's a used guitar. If you bought a used guitar from a store and don't like it, then it's the stores' problem, not yours.

If you bought a used guitar from me and it showed up broken, we'd have a case and I'd do whatever I could to help you out.

If you buy a used guitar from me and there's any other subjective problem, guess what. It's YOUR problem.

Don't like it? Too bad. Neck is different than you thought? Too bad. Don't like the pickups? Too bad. These are all YOUR problems, because you now own the guitar.

Know what? There was something I didn't like about that guitar too. You know what I did about it? I sold the fuckin thing and didn't even once bother the guy I bought it from about it.

Might sound harsh, but I'm not a guitar store. I'm a dude that's getting a little sick and tired of the used gear dorks that think everything in the world is Amazon and it doesn't matter WHY, but they're entitled to a return. Do your homework before you buy. Used gear on forums is a smoking deal most of the time, but YOU need to know what the fuck you're getting into first. If you've never played an ESP before and the neck is too thin for you, how the hell am I supposed to know that if you didn't?!

Go to some stores, find out what you like and don't, and THEN start forum shopping for a good deal on a used guitar. WE as forum goers in good standing with hundreds of transactions under our belts are not your buddy, not your guitar tech, not your mommy.

If you buy a guitar and want to throw a different set of strings on it and don't know how, THEN DO SOME READING. Don't, for fuck's sake, ask if you can return a guitar because the damn string you want to put on there 'doesn't fit'. It fits, you're just not experienced enough to know how to MAKE it fit. That is YOUR fault, not in any way the fault of the guy you bought the guitar from.

Fuckin dickheads. I'm at the point above. I just keep shit anymore. It's not worth selling anything over $100, because all you're going to see are guys that don't know what the fuck they're doing and trying to rip you off.

Yup. The little 'tard wouldn't have had the balls to say that to my face. Dumbass. Reminds me of people who used to flip me shit and question my sexuality when I carried a fanny pack. I always chuckled to myself thinking "you'd no doubt wet yourself if you knew that my 'purse' is for carrying a .45 caliber pistol". People are dumb and lucky that it's a paperwork hassle to shoot them.

read that and instantly reminded me of this south park episode.

I've learned that the guys who ask a million tedious questions or string along a conversation for days are wanting a deal and not really in the market looking for an item. If someone actually wants something, the conversations are usually short and payment sent quickly. I drop many Craigslist conversations if I think the dude is stringing me along and not going to buy. I usually respond online out of courtesy but may have already written off that buyer in my head.

This!!!

This makes me wonder how to advertise a new guitar that comes relic'ed and aged from the factory. I'm selling one such guitar now and, while I'm the second or third owner, I'm pretty sure there's not one hour of play time on this guitar and no one at all could tell the difference between it today and the day it shipped to its first owner. It's designed to look road worn and with patina. I guess it's safer just to say it's used.

I sell most of my items locally on craigslist. I'm just very clear it's first come first serve when it comes to cash and they can pick it up from my public workplace only. If they want to test it I have a small rig I'll bring to test anything out. So far I've had good luck this way. I just price items "to sell" and ignore the lowballers and trade offers.......
