your nuts...
Was there any doubt??
Actually, I thought some of the tones on AFD set the pace for the rest and some of the tones on UYI II were some legendary best tones ever, lotsa people looking for those tones still for some reason,,, but you dont have to like them and I still like your tones, so alls good!! See , no flaming

I am not chasing an AFD tone, but to me though, it and others in the era, with the exception of all the EVH brown sound and Taco mods, are some of the best around.

Sorry, gotta disagree.. I'm not a Slash nut hugger in anyway and i find him sloppy today BUT his phrasing and playing on that album was incredible and the tone of the Levi/Caswell #36/#39 is one of the best recorded 80's guitar tones ever to be put to tape. Just my opinion.. to each their own though. On it's own it is thin and bright however. Nobody ever agrees on tone.., I thought the first Lynch Mob CD sounded a little "dark" for my tastes though I love the tunes for example.

Since I keep seeing threads regarding AFD, I figured I would say I hate Slash's recorded tone. I actually cringe at how small he sounds and the trebbly overtone on the GnR albums.

Anyone else not like the AFD tone

Look man, we're all adult around here... Don't hold back, tell us how you really feel.

Funky playing, but lousy tone. I don't see the fascination with it.

His tones are terrible....never been a fan. Nasally and brittle, every bit as good a VH's tone.

i don't hate, nor do i love!

the AMP or AMPS i want! Caswell, Jubi's, Silver Jubi's, AFD, me wants them all!

I've never been too fond of the tone of Appetite. I like what he was going for, but it's too trebly/nasily. Lower the highs and brings the lows up a tad, and then it would be a great tone IMO.

One of my favorite guitar players but I don't search his tone....I have a Les Paul and a Marshall....done! I was surprised to see that Marshall is doing another sig amp for him. However, I'm looking forward to hearing it at NAMM next week.

I just got a Marshall Slash sig 2555 head and a DS1. Im trying to replicate that thin trebly sound. ;)
I hadnt listened to AFD for years. I just finished listening through it after reading the OP's comment......... He's right

G12T-75s all the way. Not really a fan myself. I put that album on and the treble knob comes down!
