I just bought a Mojave Peacemaker!

welcome to the mojave family!

I haven't used mine live yet
I imagine a combo of pd + hotplate could be useful live

for recording, just turn it up and the roar is the bees knees
in the studio, I did not like the pd
I much prefer the hotplate at -12
I prefer -8
or -4 is even better
:)

but -8 on hotplate and louder sounds ridiculously cool

Shouldn't you be on the freeway to Apple Valley right about now? :gethim: :D

i need to call vic to make sure the roads are good---i have to drive up the cajon pass and it's looking pretty stormy at the moment---just my luck

Congrats man! I had my eye on that listing more than once. What a great deal! Because of the volume needed to get the goods, I just couldn't pull the trigger. Maybe one day.
Enjoy!!

I just got a Peacemaker with a Mod5 for $1350.00 . Great amp. I cant say much for the stock tones but this modded one is a killer...

vic's adding some bells and whistles to mine as well. he's very conservative when it comes to modern hi gain but when it comes to TONE he's a guru.

I don't know what people are talking about

the stock tone = magic

are you all saying I could get higher gain and still keep the magic?
or would the stock magic be lost?

You may have misunderstood my post......I was trying to say I had never played through a stock Peacemaker, so I couldnt say anything about those tones. I wasnt very clear though. I love Vics stuff...I also have a Coyote and the stock tones of that amp were awesome. I did however send it to Jerry at Surreal to get more gain added to it and a master volume. I dont need super high gain to feel satisfied with an amp, but the stock Coyote always made me use a pedal to push it enough for leads, and somewhat reasonable volume levels.

WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?!

tis true.

sad for zachman because he is coming up to cali for a recording sesh and was going to borrow it. he'll have to settle with my friedman modded eggie now :D

honestly the peacemaker cranked has a very aggressive attack in the heavy rock marshall vein, and i'm looking for a slightly more rounded top end, or at least the ability to do so, ala slammed jtm 45. vic is attempting to leave the low sensitivity unmolested, which i can set for clean or vh brown with my pedal chains, and then add his mod to the high sensitivity input so that it's capable of more eric johnson violin leads rather than gary moore bite.

btw i just picked up gary moore corridors of power and victims of the future on CD and i forgot just how amazing his playing and tone is. what attitude! i wish he found a singer though...his white man trying to sing blues is not good. he and bonnamossa sound like ethel mermon singing "i'm just wild about harry"

I'm still loving my PM. I don't like any amount of the Power Dampening for recording. When I was a Mojave dealer, I brought home a new PM with PD and compared it to my older one without and I never even considered sending it back to Mojave for the $200 add on Power Dampening feature. I thought it was absolutely horrible. I definitely prefer my Hot Plate with it. Shea, I'd see if Ed can hook you up with a 16 ohm Hot Plate. Beautiful tones with that set-up. And the Tube Screamer will be great with the PM. The SD-1 too, but that will probably be more 80's hard rock sounding.

My CD is full of PM with TS-9 and SD-1's pushing it.

You gotta have the live "We Want Moore" from this same era too, Pat!

A N T I C I P A T I O N... Oh well....

The Eggie is SWEET.

Speaking of Gary Moore, Carlos sent me this... Cameron SLP through the rig: I screwed up the damned licks but the tone is fun.

Not too bad a deal:

I haven't bought an amp in years (6?). :D

I've never played a PM but I've always wanted to. For those of you familiar with the amps, what's the power dampening about? I've read it doesn't really work while others say it does. Does it actually reduce volume or what? I don't need this thing to do bedroom tones, just loud gigging volume.

Any tone tips or suggestions regarding the PM are more than welcome.

 Congrats...

Get one of these ASAP, set the knob to around 2 o'clock and enjoy:

i have that one on cassette somewhere.

i love how moore accelerates through his licks and ends with such intense vibrato. bring back the salmon pink strat and marshall tone! yngwie also had some of that spitfire sound on live alcatrazz...that buckling spitting viper of a tone when single coils scream through marshall stacks!

the solo on night games is yngwie on top of his game.

That aggressiveness is really what turns me on abut his amp. I want that in my JMP, With better string clarity and more defined low end.

I appreciate all the comments and suggestions guys!
