How loud should a Marshall Origin 50 be?

I tested all the tubes and they read within the "good" range. So I don't think that's the issue. Jason messaged me again with what the voltages should be coming off pins 3 & 4 of the power tubes in 50 watt mode; @ 440V DC. In the lower watt modes the voltage from pin 4 would be lower. I haven't tested that yet since I've already had a few shots of whisky this evening. Don't want to drunkenly electrocute myself. :D I'll check that out tomorrow before I return the amp.

Since I don't have the knowledge or equipment to fully diagnose the problem I'm returning the amp I've also bought another one for a better price. As long as that one arrives fully operational I'll be happy.
I had mine all retubed with a matched set of EHX when I bought it new. Had a tube problem with it about a month after purchase but nothing since.

Sweet baby Jesus. Mods please delete that post. I don't think anyone else should be subjected to it LOL

I have an Origin 50C (and 50H). The 50C is plenty loud on the high setting, enough that I don't want to stand in front of it; I also have the master at 8+, and on an angled stand. With the 1x12 it is very beamy. Sounds like you're not getting the full power...maybe reseat the power tubes?

Dont scare me like that!!

The Origin is more JTM 45/100 to Plexi to my ears...I can get close to my 1959x at much more usable volumes. The attenuation in the Origin works great IMO. I like the Origin, I got the 50C and liked it enough I also got the 50H

So, a cartoon stylized painting of someone's exposed body on a famous album cover vs a graphic IRL photo of someone is "splitting hairs" ?

... got it, wow good argument, many Mensa memberships were given, considerations were made

The difference is barely noticeable. Only those drunk with power would find fault.

What I really appreciated the most, was the amazing grammar, mechanics, as well as the message. Very apt.

🤣

The juxtaposition with their comments to other users...just priceless.

Granted the fist go round it doesn't seem to be operating properly with the power scaling, but that's what I got from it. Something that falls between a JTM 45 and Plexi. I'd consider getting a second one to keep as stock, but my Vintage Modern 2466 already covers that IMO better and then some.

It's my personal internet raison d'etre to take every midwit down one or two pegs; sometimes, the universe does everyone a solid and they do it themselves.
