I just don't seem to like celestions...

Most ALL of the greats have used Celestions over the years and created amazing tones.

My theory, as simple minded as it may be, is that people these days are searching for "produced" tone. Tone that sounds like your favorite record coming out of the speakers. Many of the modern amps seem to try to create this illusion as well. I've had a few of these types of amps and they never last for me. They never work for me in a band situation like a brash, loud, cutting Marshall does.

Just a thought.

Celestion Classic Lead 80 is a very under rated choice! I have tried a ton of speakers like many here and I always wound up back to the CL80s with my Bogner Amps I was using at the time. Now I'm using combos mainly and am about to install some Scumback M75s

Often times what sounds harsh, bright, etc. is what allows you sit in the mix well with the whole band...not sure if you're playing in one, or are just noodling at home...
