Typical shit. Kicks over for a second and stalls. Then works fine after a 100 pulls
Yes I use stabil.

Took me about an hour. Ripped out the carb sprayed out the bleeds, soaked in acetone for 20 minutes and blew it out in with compressed air.

Kicked right over

And no left over parts. Time to celebrate with a cigar and a glass of bourbon tonight

Right away the wife starts in
Throw it out, get a new one. You dont know what you're doing.

Yeah well fuck off bitch its running fine

Looks like a Stihl too. A man doesn't just throw out Stihl equipment. I gotta replace the fuel bulb on my limb trimmer I just been dragging my feet forever. I feel more motivated now. Good job Mach1!

I used to have the same issues and was a stabil stahlwart 25 years ago. One year, I forgot to put it in the mower, weed eater, bikes, etc. Didn't have a single issue. I think the gas formula changed and the stabil actually reacts with whatever is in the newer formula. For the last 25 years, all I use for the bikes, mower, wead eater, etc is shell 93 with no winter additives. I haven't had a single issue.
My KLR sat for 4 years and started right up, ran just fine.

I have a gas Stihl and 2 battery Stihls. Everyone prefers the battery ones. Way less vibration and noise. The gas is a bit more powerful but it doesn't make much difference unless we are taking down alfalfa or heavy weeds like knapweed. I put a plastic blade on the gas one for weed duty, it pretty much slays that way.
Stihl pretty much rules.

Cheers bros.

My setup also. Plastic blades on the gas but mostly use the battery power.
Not sure why I didn't know this before but the Stihl repairman said 93 octane only, 2 cycles love it...everything starts on the 3rd pull.

I've had nothing but problems with Stihl 2 strokes. And I always use 93 and Stihl oil.

On the other hand I have several Echo implements, some as old as 10 years now. Same thing, 93 octane and Stihl oil. Never had an issue with any of them.

I'd be interested to know which Stihls you had issues with. I have a more recent ms250 and a polesaw plus have had a couple older stihls I passed to my bro. The dude down at the Stihl dealer specifically warned me away from a couple of newer style saws, asking me "do you want a saw that's like a new chevy or a stihl that's like one from the mid 2000's?" Made my choice easy and I haven't had any major issues. That said Echo is pretty solid stuff too.
