I just did. I'm thinking BE + sat switch, loop, clean channel and a MV. I don't mind spending too much on it since it was free

Don't see why not, Van Halen is not very gainy to start with (just need the hands) and 80's metal has more gain but if these JCA's have anywhere near the gain of a SLO (from the clips I've been hearing theres plenty) then yes again.
