That pretty boy bitch, knew he did not have the funk in him so he had Bernard Edwards from Chic come to the rescue

Man Tony Thompson can hit

Yeah, I have that DVD (Making of Powerstation) and i was surprised when that part came up. Although, in hindsight, I should have known. I guess Bernie was producing the band, so it's not uncommon for the producer to play certain parts, just to complete the musical thought.

It's also not so well known that the solo for "Hard To Handle" by the Black Crowes was not played by either of their guitarists. . .producer Brenden Obrien played it.

I'll give John Taylor a pass as long as he actually played the RIO bassline!

Don't take it personally. These guys live to knock Hammett. The man's made more money per note on a recorded solo than they make in a year at their day job....but he's crap!!! Not like Devin Townsend though. He's the greatest.

He had to learn/play it in order to play it live. Just not his style-he had to develop it and wasn't ready for the studio, nothing to be embarrassed of in my opinion.

that happened a lot in the 80's

I did see them live and he could definitly hold it down on stage!

It really did! Especially when MTV became the best way of marketing a band. :(

weren't Mike Slamer, Tim Pierce and Steve Lukather, the real guitar heroes of the big 80's? :D

Glad you caught that, I was too busy enjoying the 10 to 1 ratio girls to guys to check

Good times..............

In my defense it was at a reunion gig about 5 years ago or so. It was more like Cougars night out!

Is it documented that he didn't record the "Rio" bass part? Or are you speculating?

At this point probably speculation. I used to date a record exec of a popular record company and I was told by her boss that
he did not record the bass line. Other then that I got nothing, so I guess you can take it with a grain of salt.
