I know it's not pretty ... but very handy :)

I just messed with the (unused) back panel of my Steavens. Back panel has the same dimensions as the front panel, and as the head shell is huge with loads of empty space, I decided I'd give it a try, here's my new, mega compact rig, very handy and it sounds absolutely badass.

The Lexicon is a place holder for now, I am considering a G-Major2 or sth in the ballpark ...

Nice but isn't the heat from the power section going to cook that processor?

I've seen other people do this and thought it was a really cool idea, but I do wonder whether or not you'll get interference or damage from the heat??

I would think it could be really cool to use Aerogel or something of the like and make a insulated box to isolate it from the heat and possible electric interference.

try putting one of those sliding oven trays in there in place of the lexicon and you might be able to make some fried eggs maybe..... points for ingenuity but like digital jams said I think I would worry about the negative impact heat can have on electronics.....

Boof.

theres no AC components to induce noise in the signal path, only thing outside that can be touched would be the electromagnetic field of the PT and OT which wont hurt anything because again - no AC around to interfere.

the back panels are ventilated enough and heat can disipate around the effects processor, id just put some heat retardent of some sort to keep from overheating the panel too much. the PCB board inside the processor doesnt mount directly to the metal chassis, so it will be fine. but you dont want to turn whatever processor your using into a dutche oven.

Well I did this once before on an amp that was upside down (Bogner Shiva, backplate serves perfect and gives a nice opening on the bottom where I velcroed the Lexicon, see here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAwcV2a-Sag)

However on the Shiva, as the FX is on the bottom, heat was no issue.

I'll keep checking how hot it gets. I don't think I could destroy anything on the amp, so worst case the MX200 goes bust, which I'd like to avoid.

Hmm not sure there might have been more noise than before, I'll have to cross check again. But it was defo not very bad.

the Lexicon is still surviving. I checked heat and it's a bit warm on top of the tubes, but the rack unit is short and merely gets in that area of the head shell, so I reckon it should be fine.

As the Steavens has a Return Volume, I also use the loop with the MX200 to bring the level down for home practising. Check it out, given that the Steavens is crushingly loud, this is IMO quite cool low volume tone:
