..that what you're hearing open up at 3:54 is a guitar and a pedal. It's not what I would use as an example of an SLO doing it's thing. But even though I love Gary, I never liked the tone he had through this period. Too much saturation/sizzle.

Granted the crunch channel setting on a SLO does get fantastic medium gain tones. Plus I'm only "pretty" sure he used pedals on the crunch channel, not absolutely sure. Atomic Playboy would know for sure.

Shit, I don't know for sure but it looked
like to me that Gary was rolled back on his
volume pot and was switched on his neck pup
for the smooth lead, then went full volume and
switched to his Hotter bridge pup (you can see
him flip the toggle switch for the Hotter Tone).

But maybe there was a Boost on the floor or
somebody behind the scenes to switch it on....
My point being, even with a boost on the Crunch
channel, the SLO, Still is a Slayer of Giants!
I Absolutely Loved his Bluesy, SLO Tone!!

Yeah, not a Trash amp. But I don't see them as more expensive that Diezels and Bogners. A new VH4 is about $4,500 I think. Herbert $4,200? Ubershall $3,500? SLO is about $3,500 as well. No idea about Oz dollars though. They are worth giving a listen if you get a chance, but it doesn't seem like it would fit your style.

That's about $1,000 more than a new Uberschall costs btw.

2oth XTC maybe around $3,500. I don't keep up. I'm not even sure a new SLO is $3,400.
