I'm with you on that too. VH1 sounds too razor blade-like to me...although I do like it. Balance tone is just so smooth but ballsy at the same time.

i used to chase the balance tone - i wont lie im guilty.

but as my taste in music changed so did the tone i chased as well. now i've actually sold every bit of the effects processors i had and plan to start from scratch.

i do agree though balance is stunning. better than vh1?

I agree. Balance sounded awesome. Amsterdam had killer guitar tone. I actually like VHII tone better than VH1. His best Marshall tones came from Women and Children First and Fair Warning.

I don't know about liking the Balance tone better than VH1 but it is really good....best tone of the Sammy era stuff.
The production on that disc is great, the drums in that drum solo song sound awesome. I give the engineer of that CD big props.
Another of my favorite sounding discs is Genesis "We Can't Dance" amazing engineer on that...crank up the song 'Fading Lights' on a nice stereo.

I love the tone of that album!!! D. Jams you've got to try an SLO.

I have no proof but I would bet bookoo bucks that the album is SLO. Yes I am a Soldano fanboy but it has alot to do with this album actually. I've just convinced myself over the years that this is fact. Why...

#1 All the 5150's I tried; while very cool, I liked them..did not sound like that album.

#2 Ed still used his SLO's live for Balance Album tour...well documented.

#3 in Nacho Libre voice...I'm a little crazy.
