Here's the ad..

Here's the douchebag's email:
"You have a pretty guitar,I have many myself. If you took your guitar to sell at Sam Ash or Guitar Center and if it was in perfect condition they would offer you between 35% and if you were extremely lucky they might give you 40% that is about $665.00 .It is a same people on EBay ask outrageous price’s looking for a sucker.I’m not trying to offend you.Good luck".

The obvious difference to me is, if you took your guitar to them-- you're asking them, specifically to buy it, and/or make you an offer. When you list your stuff in an ad, w/ an asking price-- those interested can contact you. I would write him back and tell him if he will provide his wholesale/resale permit, you'd suggest that he consider becoming a dealer, and selling at retail. If not.... I would suggest that perhaps his approach is that of the typical swap meet haggler, thank him for his offer, and tell him it sold for your asking price.

CL sucks. I don't waste time with musical gear on there anymore. Too many twats and lowballers. That being said, I have sold a few things such as land scape pavers and farm fencing on CL in the last year that went fast without any issues. I sold a dog kennel to a nice couple who came by and gave me some free obedience classes for my puppy when I first got her which was very cool.

Gotta say I like that color on the lp, I have an 03 standard le in that color. So why are you selling it.

And I would have told that guy he was full of it too....

I've had good luck selling, (eventually), but you get alot of dumbasses in the process. Actually, I've had the best luck on TGP. Don't ask me why, but I just prefer selling there - those guys don't jerk you around.

I have 2 '12 Classic Plus's - the manhattan midnight, and cherry sunburst. But, I'm pulling the CL ad, and keeping both.

This line by itself is the tip off that this guy is a douchebag.

"You have a pretty guitar,I have many myself." ...yeah, right, I bet he does...NOT!

Not true.
Last thing I posted there I got some jerk who would not stop emailing me with lowball offer after lowball offer, and was insulting to boot.
it was even worse than Craigslist.

TGP has over 80,000 members .... I am sure there is all kinds over there also...

I usually do the "delete" thing and move on with life. They don't care - why should you? Life is too short.

no, no, no, tell him he can have it for $100, but he's got to come now, given him a address from next town over to come and get it.
works well... i get lots of clowns, play their game !

Thanks for sharing this  ! just when one might question their own sanity ya see guys like this that confirm you are perfectly fine  !
