I love EBMM guitars, but that forum is pathetic...

Sterling is a major asshole, and though I've played a few EBMM guitars and they are quite nice. I personally would never buy one new to put money in his pocket.

Yep i really liked the JP BFR inhad but my Suhr smokes it in every way. The EBMM forum made it easy to jump ship to Suhr. Sterling teased that forum with talk of that guitar for over a year. Ha ha he didn't get his way and look at him cry. What a little bitch
I'm sure John Suhr childishly teases everyone on his site in the same manner...not! Or bans people for not agreeing or speaking anything negative about his products ;)

Yep, the EBMM Forum is absolutely pathetic. And, Sterling Ball is a complete egotistical ASSHOLE.

This about sums it up, it would be better for his company if he wasn't online being the Jack of all Asses 24/7. I will never own a EBMM because of him.

I've had a few of those guitars over the years....actually, more than a few! I loved the old EVH models. I think they were really well made. I always liked the Birds eye maple necks. They looked and felt really nice. I had several of the BRF models and while they were beautiful looking instruments, I noticed a lot of inconsistencies that I didn't like. The forum stuff didn't bother me because it's his forum, so I really didn't worry about it.

I'm gathering that the fretwork has gotten better with the stainless stuff being used? They had some pretty nasty fret end work previously on several of the models I purchased and tried including the BFR stuff.

It is a sick soup of sycophants, with Sterling posting teaser pics to keep the soup simmering.
He loves the adulation and has no time for anything other than syrupy praise.
If you post about any other manufacturer it is removed by the mods.
Even if it is to ask about a possible option on an EBall.
Mention EVH at your peril. We all know why, but the repression is stifling.

Everything they do is limited run to get the diehards frothing.
They release a Dealer Select model every year, the previous one was sparkle red, now sparkle green and the regulars all gush over what is just a paint colour. BFD.

I am willing to bet they are good guys in person, but have simply no idea that they have created a clique which is unappealing to the casual reader.

I've owned four EBMM's over the years, they were all nice but once I really got into Tom Anderson guitars for me the search was over. Just my opinion. Plus I don't think there's a builder out there that has better customer service than Tom.

Yep. Guess Sterling still holds a grudge against him for FUCKING HIS WIFE. It brings a smile to my face every time I think about it, knowing the type of person that Sterling is. :D

Tom is a class act all the way. Great customer service.

As for the EBMM board, I agree with the above that it's his board and he can run it how he wants. Plenty of others boards to talk about whatever else that dude doesn't like. And I think hacking into the guy's info/pics is not cool, but if I remember right, this happened once before and it wasn't hacking really: he posted teasers from an album that was public, so of course folks just looked in the rest of the album. Is that what happened again? If so, that's kinda funny.

Yeah thats what happened. He said someone from his IT department left it public by mistake.

Why the hell is he using photo bucket for that stuff?!

did EVH really nail his wife ?
I started a thread asking that very question years ago over there. It was in my early message board days (mostly HC) where I didn't even realize Big Poppa ran the site :aww:

Needless to say I was teh permabant

That was part of the rumor. I heard it was basically a drunken orgy.
Another portion of the rumor was that there was copius amounts of Peruvian flake involved. :D

I know part of it was that Ed wanted MM to make a less expensive version of the EVH guitar. Ed also wanted a carved top on his guitar. Logic being that for that expensive of a guitar, customers should get a carve. Sterling said no carves (at the time MM had no CNC program or setup to run that type of carve) and told Ed to fuck off. With Ed no longer in the house, MM decided to change the name of the guitar to the Axis.
Funny thing is- once they switched over to the Axis, they soon started making the Axis Super Sport and Axis Sport, which are less expensive versions of the Axis. Probably Sterling's passive-aggressive way of getting back at Ed.
And Ed got back at Sterling with the Wolfgang.

edited for clarity

I love my Morse and JP6 as much as the next guy, but "The Majesty" is butt-ugly. Should be called "The Travesty".

And what idiot uses Photobucket for top secret photos and then complains when someone "hacks" into it?

If really like to know this too!!!

The story was even reported on that old show "Hard Copy". They didn't mention Sterling by name, but talked about how Ed had slept with someone's wife from a company he endorsed or something to that effect. From everything I've heard, I believe it did happen.

I found this cool old video.
