Timeless! Crazy how it seems like just yesterday, man I still can't believe Eddies gone...

I remember the day I heard. I was all excited. Picking up a new Truck from the dealer. Top of the world feeling!
Buddy texted me ‘damn shame bout evh’
Wrote back ‘ what happened??’ Though rehab. Surgery.... etc.

He simply said ‘he died’

wanted to think he was fucking with me.
but went to the news on my phone. Read it.
Damn near wanted to cry. I know. Sounds silly. ?
But I guess I always thought that guy would live forever.

That was my first concert, Van Halen, Fair Warning tour, August 4,1981, Toronto, Maple leaf Gardens.
It’s funny, i remember the song that I was humming while I was driving home, ‘hear about it later’.?

The biggest surprise for me was when he got cleaned up. Apparently he was drinking wine from the bottle. There are videos of him doing guitar presentations when he is absolutely smashed drunk. He really looks like a homeless person. I thought that's it that guy is going to be dead in a few months. A few years or so later he reappears and he has got a haircut, looks totally different, his playing really great and releases an amplifier that makes Gojira sound like Godzilla. So I went and bought the amp and he made me think about quitting drinking. I can afford a way more gear now. Alcohol can totally tear some people up. EvH looked like one of the worst I'd ever seen. However when he quit drinking he seemed to like totally go back to normal. I thought way more damage would have been done. However it seems it was the cancer of the tongue that spread in the end. Quitting smoking is a big deal. The earlier the better. All sorts of lessons to learn from him than just guitar tapping.

Loved EVH
When Ace or Angus pass......
I’m gonna crawl into a box and drink heavily for a week. They are who made me pick up a guitar. Not no where as good as Eddie for sure though.
EVH was the best of the best. ?

Amazing in da 80's how 50,000 folks could pack an Arena and about the only thing you caught was a good buzz, a good nutt & a good show.

All game changers...

Ya, about 75% of all modern rock guitar evolved from the foundation those guys built.

@Samhain I can't place the name but I remember her well! Samantha or something like that??
