I need a wah pedal.

i have the mxr cae one and a ZW cry baby. I prefer the ZW just due to the way its voiced. it seems to have a bit more bite to it. bit of a lame description but its about the only way I can describe it.
 
I have the CAE and while it's an excellent wah I really find it lacks that top end bite. I've adjusted the internal trim pots but still can't get it to scream. I still think it'll be useful in the studio (has a nice warm sweep and big bottom end) but I'm currently looking for something different for my live rig.
 
Been looking for one for a while. Heard a guy from nashville last Friday using a Vox 847a and it was killing. Not sure I can pop for $160 wah when I only use it for a song or two.

Geoff is a great guy to deal with too. Bought a Picture Wah from him years ago, had a problem with it so I called him up (he used to live about an hour away from me) the next day we meet at a nearby music store and he has 4 wahs for me to try out and a tool kit in case I wanted my wah fixed. now that's some service!

have you tried rolling the pot more toward the treble end? a wah's range of the rocker is not as wide as the turning-range of the pot. so you can adjust where along the turning-range of the pot your rocker is actually sweeping.

loosen the thing that holds the straight rack gear against the gears on the pot shaft, swing the straight gear away from the pot shaft, then turn the pot shaft a few gear-notches in the direction you want more of (treble or bass). test the rocker to make sure you don't have it turning the pot up or down farther than the pot will go (or the pedal will jam when you're trying to use it).

i've hacked dual inductors with dual Q controls into my Crybaby, like the CAE has, and i dig it--the sound difference between the yellow or red inductors is subtle but it's there.

i also dig the 535Q--i like the adjustable sweep-range caps. and for the vintage Italian wah sound, i haven't played the Teeses but i like the Area 51. you can get it as a kit if you like to hack or if you have an old Crybaby shell.
