Everyone else on here has 10. I have one

So I'm gonna get another one. I had a 6505+ Didn't like it.
I have a MKV right now. I like it, but feel like there's other tones out there besides the 1 tone on it I use. MKIV mode, channel 3, gain maxxed. The rest of the amp I don't even use.
I play thrash, metal, LOG style, Slayer. I like a somewhat scooped tone, but I don't use the MKV preset eq, I run my mids a little higher and find the preset a tad too scooped. I play in drop D, C# and C.

I'm a cellar dwellar anyhow so I can get away with using all the gain the MKV has. Sometimes I even use a Voodoo Sparkle Drive boost in front for a little more saturation. It just seems sometimes that it's missing some complexity to the tone that I hear in some of the vids I'm watching. I realize YT vids are processed as well and I'm not hearing what I would hear in the room.

Problem is there's nowhere to try shit out. Axe palace is cool, but I prefer to try shit out alone with nobody hovering over me. Don't care for that. I'm not a fool, I know how to operate an amp. I have been drooling over the Orange Dual Dark since it came out. Tried one at the Axe Palace, but the owners worker was turning knobs and they both were telling me how much the amp sucks. I would like to try one with my 2x12 cab myself, alone. Everything I hear online, I like. But there's a difference between youtube and sitting in front of the thing.

A lot of folks don't seem to like the DD so much it seems. They say it's too fuzzy. I don't have much experience with amps to begin with, I'm not hearing the fuzzy in the vids I'm watching.

I've only owned Mesa tube amps really. Recto pre and 2:90 was my last before I got my MKV (second one). I've never had a Marshall either. So to describe the tone I like. Scooped metal sound with mids that punch through, a nice resonant bass and a lot of saturation and presence.

I'm watching videos left and right and stumbled across a Bugera 6262 that Keith Merrow plays a Bernie Rico Jr. through and the tone is amazing. But I already had a 6505+ and it didn't do much for me.

So, I'm wondering what else out there might peak my fussy interest.

Ahh....I only have one. I'm really happy with it. Don't feel bad....

EVH 5150. I have a Mark V and a 5150 50 watt which I love but I really like the simplicity of the 5150iii. Its instant gratification, no bulls hit twisting jobs and adjusting eq. Its a straight up easy amp. No real bad sounds out of it and it kicks some serious ass.

Mesa Royal Atlantic? LOG was using them according to Youtube.

I second that on the 5150 iii 50 watt. I have been gigging with one lately and it is just a great sounding amp, simple to set up, and easy to use.

Do you have a budget?

Around 2k or so.

As for the 5150, isn't that similar to a 6505 or no?

Sucks never being around amps, I don't know what's what. There's a GC near me, but I'm not going to drive there to test out a fender champ.
Sweetwater needs to relocate.

Got a Splawn QR for sale w the drop b+ mod. Sounds killer. Pm if interested

Have some other stuff too in your $ range

Well you have a lot of options in that range if you're willing to go used. I've had the same amps as you and have similar musical influences as well. Right now I'm running a stereo rig with a MK IV and a Bogner XTC, now I'm about to add a helios to the group. I really like the contrast of a marshall amp alongside the MK IV. So the 5150 III or some sort bogner might fit in real well (Shiva or XTC).

The Friedman small box 50 is sweet too. If you like that refined Marshall sound, the friedman is the way to go. It's not over the too gain and probably way different than what you're used to on the Mark. But it's very refined and articulate. Really has some good note definition. And the loop is insane transparent, it's fucking killer all around.

Scooped metal tone with mids that punch thru. Hmmm...for me that's what I do with my ultralead and Herbert.

For Marshall roar go with a splawn with an eq in the loop. And you would be surprised what a 6505 or variant with an eq in the loop can do. The 5153 50 watt seems very popular.

Good luck with the hunt.

Find a used Herbert

Doing this will change your life.

+1 on this, the Herbert is my cold dead hand amp :)

If the cost side of things prevent you from getting the Herbert the Einstein is pretty good too - no mid cut, but similar and has loads of gain!
