I need another amp head dammit

I like knobs, not screens. I'm assuming these things are better than the Line6 rack crap I've had in the past. You'd think I would have learned my lesson, I've had 3 Line 6 fizz racks over the years. So, although I'm sure the AxeFX and Kemper sound better, I'm weary of solid state rack stuff since my ears are sort of tuned for tubes.

My friend has an ubershall. It sounded kind of woofy to me, but he was running it through a Carvin 2x12 with G12-T 75's.

I got my eyeball on a Dual Dark 100 for $1500 bucks used in mint condition. I suppose I could get my money back if I didn't like it.

5150 iii I had the head, I like the 1x12 better. Instant gratification like Avi8r2005 or jcmtone1 said. The mesas are great. The Atlantic series don't have enough gain IMO, Electro Dyne you have to push so loud its un usable unless you're Soundgarden. The Splawns I've heard are very unreliable night after night. The Herbert is amazing but is it overkill? and the price. The 5150 iii 50w combo that you can roll down to 1 watt is very competitive at its price point.

Bogner Uberschall.

The bogner will get you completely different tones from the mark series. The scooped out stuff is where things start to get evil. That amp doesnt cut over a drummer scooped out but in a room by itself it sounds godly. I love mine. when i feel like im getting tired of the mark sound i plug in my uber and i just start chugging. It has a crazy sub low end too and massive amounts of gain, its tight as shit and when you crank it you feel every note punching you in the gut.

If youre into running a stereo rig the pair of a mark 5 and an ubsrchall will melt your face off and kill small children. The mark 5 fills out everything thats missing from the uber with mids and detail. The uber will add all of the low end thats missing from the mark.

Only downside is its kind of a bitch to EQ. Its easy to learn though and you will probably love it.

I don't know where you heard Splawns being unreliable...? Hogwash. They have always been praised for reliability, especially over the 5150III line. I own both.

The Mesa Mark V has every tone I would ever need. I love Mesa's, if I the money right now and already had one, I'd get another mark V... or actually i would get a Mark IV or a III for a backup.

Axe palace is cool, but I prefer to try shit out alone with nobody hovering over me. Don't care for that. I'm not a fool, I know how to operate an amp.

Fuck ASS palace.

+1

I got a Peters FSM 100W head that you should consider. Selling it for under your budget too.

Here I am, in the place, with a pocket full of cash, contemplating the purchase of a $2500 Orange amp and they're sitting there telling me how much it sucks and I don't want it.

Boggles my mind.
