Trying to decide which way to go.
Friedman modded Marshall ----
Fortin Cali modded Marshall---- or
PT100.
Any help?

Fortin Cali mod without a doubt! That thing will cover all the hot rodded Marshall tones you could dream of!

Have not played the Friedman stuff but it sounds great, have the Fortin Cali coming as I was able to play that and it is hot rodded marshall with the right feel.

No matter which way you go, hot rodded Marshalls are the greatest!!! I'm addicted.

You'd have to play them for yourself. Everyone has their own taste, I've heard modded Marshalls that just sound to hard and cold for my taste but another guy would love it. I've only heard mp3's of Fortin's stuff and they sound great, I own a few Friedman amps. Dave's mods sound beautiful, my '71 sounds insane. You really need to play some if you can and see what suits your playing. IMO you can't make a call like this based on peoples opinions, you gotta sling a guitar and feel them.

I just stood in front of 2 PT100's about 2 hours ago, I was at sound check at Tone Merchants with Andy Wood and Pete Thorn, I would say a PT100 is not a modded Marshall sound at all. Very different tone and feel, way more compressed and covered sounding.

....and that's my point, Cameron mods don't agree with my playing or my ear, way to hard sounding for my taste and some guys live for them. You gotta pick for yourself.

I found a pic of a guy who ordered a Cameron 3 years ago.

 I agree with James on his first post. I own a few Camerons, a Golub, and I have a friedman coming. I have talked with Mike Fortin and he's next. Or maybe it's already set. I forget.  :checkthisout:

Honestly there's so many good pedals I would just get a stock old Marshall and run a pedal into it. I'm having great success with an MI Audio Blues Pro into my Plexi build and my Barber Small Fry is a pure Metal Match Made in heaven with a JCM800 2203. It's a lot easier to try a different pedal than to reverse a high dollar mod and try something else.

Now like was said previously if you can try a few in person and they're consistantly bad ass then go for it. I had heard a few Soldano modded, 6 knobbers over the years so I had no qualms about spending the dough on having him do my last 2203....but on the other hand I also no longer own it and have gone back to just pedals.
