ok my control cavity screw holes on my model 6 have finally become useless. the wood is completely stripped out and I have lost a screw due to this... what I would like to do is replace all of them with something slightly bigger rather than drill and add dowels or just fill the existing holes with glue...where will I be able to find these screws ?

Elmers Glue and Toothpicks have saved many an instrument....

Of course if you have to take the screws out and put them back in enough to screw up the screw holes then there may be something wrong... ;)

A little wood glue and toothpicks. Or just drop some superglue in the holes. I use both methods at work (repairing furniture) on a daily basis.

I've always been able to find matching screws (usually worn out Floyd Rose parts) at my local hardware store. I usually go to Ace Hardware - They have a huge selection of screws/nuts/bolts...etc.

If they are already stripped out, why not go with machine screws with steel inserts?

the guitar was built in 86... just wear and tear my friend....

Just did the toothpick trick yesterday to fill in the holes while replacing the tuners in my '80 LP. I hear ya on the wear and tear

I caved I used toothpicks and glue...lol
figure I should buy a couple dozen screws for spares lol

Does anyone know what size screw is used for the AMT preamp pedals? Every time I change batteries I tend to lose one.

Been doing this forever. It works perfect and you cannot even tell.

QFT.

I have just been using duct tape for now. If nothing else I will just take the pedal with me the next time I go to the hardware store.
