Been on a cab binge. Ended up with a quad of T3904 V30s from '89 and another from '91, and man they sound fantastic. Not sure if they really are different from newer V30s or are just super broken in, but they sound good with everything. Fender, Vox, Marshall, Mesa whatever.

I have some of the Marshall spec V30s too (a quad from '20 and another assorted mix from '90-00); they sound pretty great too, but I mildly prefer the (old) T3904 spec. The T3904 has a more prominent mid honk that I kinda dig. The Marshall spec has a bit more scoop, which is great for chugga chugga stuff but doesn't fill out the lower gain stuff in the same way. But they are pretty close in sound; the drummer might not notice the difference.

If you can find some 80s 8 ohm Marshall Vintages, grab them. Super warm n fat sounding speakers.
With the right amp V30s kill. I picked up a pair of 1963 Celestion Blues; good price so I can sell if I don’t like them. Man, they are super sweet sounding speakers; crazy thing is they sound like V30s in that the frequency response is the same. But it sounds like the best V30 ever like a ‘custom shop’ version lol. I ran my Mesa cab with the 212 I have the Blues in, same highs/mids/lows. Just way more 3D sounding.
Years ago I kept trying to force my 2204 to get on with V30s and it wasn’t happening. But then I tried a Jubilee with them..magic. Later a Mesa..more magic.

I’ve a pair of early 90’s V30’s that sound killer. I still dig V30’s, too. They cut live like nothing else.

I have a Bogner 212CB on the way next week with V30s. Can't wait! Had one a few years back and should never have sold it. Best 212 ever that I have used. Looking forward to getting one again and keeping it this time!

Just swapped out some ASW speakers for an Alnico Cream and Mesa spec V30
