I refuse to comply with Reverb now!

I've ben saying this will be happening to use the internet at all soon enough. I can't wait to get back to old world living.:love:
Unfortunately Covid taught us that the majority of people will be happy to get in line to get their chip implanted so long as they can go to football games and post show-off pics to social media from their latest tacky overpriced vacation.

Didn't someone here say they did that and sold something after they refused to give their ID and Reverb withheld their funds until they provided it? I thought I read that somewhere here???
That's happened to me with ebay. I reject it on principle and simply won't do business with them anymore. Another platform at least allowed me to spend the funds on their platform.

The coronal mass ejection will fry the systems and those who have taken the mark will break out in painful sores.

Most of the stuff I'd be selling would be tube amps, cabs and guitars, all of which are PITA for shipping and potential for damage or even getting lost, on top of the seller fees.

I've had good luck recently just selling or trading at my local GC; I go in knowing I'll be getting less money, but it's worth it for the convenience. If the price is too low, I just keep it.

I also amortize my gear; what I paid for it, how long have a owned it, what are the current prices, etc. then figure GC needs to make a profit.

I'll also use local CL if I don't like the GC offer, but mid to high end gear doesn't move fast around here, most of the gear is beginner / cheap stuff, though there are rare exceptions.

I have a park nearby with covered dining area and electric outlets, so I meet CL buyers there.

I'm happy with my amps, guitars and modelers. Using more software plugins these days; as far as GAS goes, there's one more keyboard I want and have room for....after that it will be sell something to buy something as I plan to retire soon.
You're in CT, right? Which GC ?

What’s funny is almost everyone on here saying they’re done, will give in and be back on there, let’s be real. Like said, every site and service is going this way because fraud and scams are so pervasive. Reverb’s done alright by me so far but I understand the feeling of enough is enough with the need for more Data, more proof, more, more but we’re a garbage race that will subvert and exploit every new advance in technology. Is what it is.

I shut down ages ago when I said I would and haven’t been back since. It also stopped all of the reverb targeted ads received all over every website I visited. I don’t need nor want anything bad enough to use reverb. With the sales history you have to keep now even if you don’t owe taxes just for audit protection it’s easier just to sit on gear and not bother even selling.

If you need money it’s not easier to sit on your gear. I want to get a Les Paul or SG and been eye fuckin’ the Snorkler. I have 9 amps and my last guitar purchase I’m not sure I’m bonding with. I’m not buying anything else until I move some stuff. Partly for money reasons but also to stop having so much shit.

Oh I totally get it. I’ve got collector level Les Paul’s and I will not eat their value due to the awful market. I’d love to move a few of them but the thought of doing so post covid with shipping damage risks, package theft, and loss of value, I’m happy to sit on them.

You may as well get used to it; won't belong before practically ever website/service that requires a login will enforce MFA

Most already do
I get it and I support it for selling but I'm not a fan of it for general browsing or participating in forum discussion. Security for a purpose...

I dread selling and have accumulated way too much gear because of it. It’s been a few years since I’ve sold anything in Reverb or anywhere other than a couple of small items on here.

I do use a local music store for consignment that works ok and is easier because they do the selling and the buyer gets to try first.

I'm done with them. Last guitar I sold for $950. My total payout was $713.50. $120 in fees plus $110 for their shipping label. I get they have fees but give me break already.
Yeah, their labels went up, and their added protection REALLY went up! I'm sure the labels going up was UPS to an extent, but they cash in on the extra insurance. I used to chance it and not buy the insurance, but package damage and lost packages also WENT UP! USPS can screw up a one car funeral, UPS & FEDEX just plain suck, and have only gotten worse. UPS cut ties with Amazon, so they had to make up for lost revenue, but you'd think that less volume would better service, but all it did was lead to layoffs, facilities closing, and giving less of a shit.

Poor quality shipping must be driving business’s crazy these past several years. You can try and be white glove all the way but you have to hand it off to that 3rd party with very little control.

I bought a pedal off a scammer over the weekend and asked for a refund today and they did it. To me, that is good service. The scammer put in fake tracking and their messaging was suspect. Then they couldn't receive messages. I am glad Reverb protected me. It was only 100 bucks, but still! I have had a few issues where they stepped up over the years. Better service then Ebay to me. Yes, shipping is BS.
