Dual Rec connoisseurs ............ need some advice

I want a Dual Rec ...... and realizing now it's a bigger rabbit hole than I thought ...

90's Re-Issue ... 2 channel .... 3 channel .... Fev F ... Rev G ... etc etc

and then there's the different " models " Roadster . Trem - O - Verb .. etc

I actually know someone that has a mid 90's Trem O Verb for 1700.00 .......... but I have no idea if that's a great price or not ....

If you don't mind the price/feature ratio, I'd get the new 90s Reissue. It seems to sound fantastic.

I've had all the other versions except Rev D. If you don't want to pay for the new reissue and don't mind only two channels and a shitty loop, then I'd go for a Rev G if you boost the amp with an OD pedal.

If you must get tight, trashy tones without a boost pedal, (get a Mark but) then you'd need a Rev C.

The difference between G and the other non-C versions is just immaterial once you boost it.

I didn't care for the non-Multiwatt 3-channel. I don't hate the Multiwatt but it sounds tame and a bit nasal if you have it side by side with an older one.

I had a Tremoverb and it was fine but just didn't seem to have the grunt of the Rectifier imho.

When folks say Tremoverb I think Bush tone, grunge/alt/organic wall of sound.

What kind of sound do you want? I’d prolly snag that T-Verb and get a JJ kit from Eurotubes depending on the style. KT77’s are godly in DR’s.

Only owned a few Rectos, MW Dual, Modded Triple, Modded Trem Dual...90s RI Dual for the win. The feel. the tone....kills!

Get a Mark III lmao
got one .... and a Mark V ..... love the Mark's

I haven't played a Rec in forever .... I remember not liking the one I tried much ...it was a Roadster though and I didn't have a boost ... wasn't my guitar ... or my cab ... etc

the vids I have seen on the 90's RI sounded really .. really good

I've owned an early Dual recto, rectoverb, triple rec from 2000, a roadster and I still own a Multiwatt triple. For me the Multiwatt was as good as the early two channel I had but with more flexibility. I'm sure the new 90's RI kills but if you find a good deal on a multiwatt I would give it some consideration.

17-1800 seems what the T-Verb heads are going for, so not bad. You could try and hold out for one that sneaks by a GC employee and they list it for 16-1700 but that’s quite the wait.
Personally I think it’s between a T-Verb and the RI. I own a T-Verb and love it. Versatility is very good on a T-Verb if you like several different tones out of one amp. Responds well to pedals 😉.
If you just want the Recto grunt fest and prefer your amp sexier lookin’, I would go with the RI. Haven’t had a chance to play one but the videos sound good and the reports are very positive and they’re showing up used now, for under 3K.
But Orange VM and Red Modern are in the T-Verb so 🤷‍♂️.
I would dig a RI because cosmetically, the chrome chassis is near the top of the list for me, for best looking rock amp made. Stupidly, about 12-13 years ago I scored a F/G transition Triple, chrome chassis for 1K (when Craigslist still worked) and sold it soon after because I was just too tuned in to Marshall and it just sounded like all the Recto’s I’d known over the years, which didn’t become a sound I cared for until the last few years.

If you don't want to spend a ton, Multi-watts are going for pretty good prices right now. I like mine better than any of the Rev G's I have ever owned.

I really liked the MW Dual I had but it never got me quite there for thrashy rhythms that required super tight fast tracking response regardless of boost, cabs/speakers, guitar, etc. The 90s RI does and with better feel, clarity, and mids. It feels better under the fingers, has more grease/juice with tighter-faster response.
