I think I'm gonna try my hand at building my cables

So since I love soldering, and spent all this money on soldering stuff when I was rebuilding/refurbing old Ataris and other consoles, I'll give it a shot.

I think I might like to try that BTPA 0446 cable that looks fairly priced and some Neutrik gold plated connectors to make some guitar cables, or lines to hook the expression pedals up to the Helix, and to run from my tuner to the Helix input. However, I could use a good XLR cable recommendation from them. I guess I'll also just get Neutrik XLR connectors, along with a couple 1/4" trs connectors for hooking my interface up to my monitors.

I have some nice high quality wire strippers so I guess I'll have to get creative on how to use these w/o killing the strands inside.

Do it it’s easy. G&H connectors are killer. I made and sold cables in eBay for more than 10yrs and I started the business before I learned how to make them 🤣

@Matt300ZXT - you've really been on a DIY kick lately.

Good on you

I couldn't solder a roach clip to a hotplate of 80/20

You wouldn't happen to have a high-profile alt around these parts would you?

Redco in the US is a great supplier for all quantities.

Neutrik connectors are also sold there which are great and an industry standard.

My go to for guitar cables was Mogami 2524 for longer cables and Mogami 2314 for shorter runs (like pedalboards, rack systems etc)

You can even buy your solder from them too

I personally do not like the way the Neutrik gold color the sound.

You may really like them but I found that I prefer the Switch craft 285 and 226.

The Best-Tronics CA-0446 is the one for sure, good choice there.

If you end up wanting patch cables, go with 0678.

The sp400s are really solid connectors for the patch cables.

Good luck!

Once I made the swap, there's no going back.

do it! super easy, you get exactly what you want, and at about half the price.

+1 for supplies from Redco.
I had happened across them. Considered their Redco HD instrument cable but can't really find any specs or many reviews online to see how it compares to other stuff.

I've only tried their balanced cable for mic cables and headphone extension cables. It was great. I use them a lot for connectors and stuff.

Funny, we're talking about Redco and suddenly I get an email from Redco saying my order is shipping. I didn't order anything! What the fuck!

I had some stuff on backorder, and it must have just came in. They're sending the leftovers from my last two orders; some color coded boots and a labeling plate.

I think they saw me posting about them and thought they better do me right before I start badmouthing them.
