BadCat did the mini you played have the same amount of gain? I start with just the DS then kick in the OCD then back to just the amp again.

Thanks again for sharing.
Difficult to tell the difference from a video.
What would be your pick. DS or Smallbox with a BE pedal or the Brown Eye in the first place. Like the sound of the BE very much but am not a fan of 100 Watt heads due to size and weight. Clearly prefer the smaller size of a smallbox or a DS but i guess the BE is more versatile than the other too?
Which would be your pick if you just could have one Brent?

Man.....I'm really liking this DS, but I'm still in the honey moon stage. I feel the BE would be my pick. The modes SAT/C45/FAT and Voicing mode is very useful.

Thanks Brent!
Didn`t see your reply regarding the mini before now:
From what i remember the Mini had significant less gain than the DS in your clip. I played a Small Box the same day and even if i liked that amp a lot too i found even the smallbox lacking in the gain department. Just didn`t have those singing lead tone that i was looking for.
On the other hand there are some videos of the smallbox on YT that prove otherwise:

:dunno:

The SB50 is a killer amp, it's the same BE channel of the BE100 with a plexi channel instead of a clean. With PAFs the gain at 3:00 is more than enough to play most any 80's hair metal. With my EBMM axis it puts it over the edge. Here's my axis on the BE channel.

Brent that is definitely enough gain for my taste . Will soon (middle of december) have the possibility to check out again and compare Smallbox, DS and BE. Most likely the BE will go home with me then :).
By the way- sweet tone from the HBE channel here:
That combination of the BE with a Les Paul is just too tasty to pass.
As they say: Life is too short for a B Rig:

Okay Brent now you have the DS40 - which Friedman is going to be next? lol

Haha, I dont know maybe one of the mini amps?

You guys are giving me GAS for a Friedman! I had a SS100 after seeing a few youtube video and it was kind of blah. When playing single string leads it was very thin sounding. Sold it. I could never get close to the YouTube tone at home. A friend had an earlier BE100 it was OK. Are the newer BE better sounding? I read they were. Which is better between the JJ100 & the BE100 for thick rock tones?

-can't go wrong with either, but I would say the JJ is thicker,

Dang, that's a thing of beauty!!! Looks as good as it sounds!

^^^ Stunning!!! ^^^

That's like the perfect collection. Well done!

I notice the BE is the one plugged in...

So is the JJ different enough to warrant owning both the BE and JJ for us poor inferior pheasants that can't have both?

Lmao. I would never call someone inferior because they have less gear.

Yes they are different enough. IMO all the Friedman 100 watt heads are different enough to justify having them all.

I'm in the process of downsizing a bit. But the Friedmans are all staying.

I've had the JJ for a week now, thinking I would eventually pick between it and my BE...Obviously still honeymooning and all...the JJ is just as addictive as the BE...I love them both and at this point can't see choosing one or the other. I'd much rather sell something else. Even a kidney.

Be warned! These amps are highly addictive!

(When ya' ordering the JJ?) Hahahahaha! -I'm just teasing you Brent. With your amp collection, I still think picking the DS was the best choice. For the next one though....hmmmm ;)

thats sort of weird to me, as i find the SS a pretty fat sounding plexi-type amp

My SS100 is anything but thin.

I feel like sometimes there's an issue somewhere else the the rig and people blame the amp. My buddy got a new 5150 el34 the other day and initially thought it didn't sound good. He found that the power supply to one of his pedals was loose and after fixed, the amp sounded stellar.

Nice BrentSP that looks almost Identical to my DS Mini with all Sozo/Royal mustard caps and the big caps on the board instead on the chassis like the DS40.
