Did you not understand me when I stated to you that the Columbus will not do anything that your RJM Mastermind won't do?

The MIDI on the Herbert does not currently function the way that you think it does. It will soon once my software has been fully tested. The foot switch boxes are still at least a couple months out.

Let me give you a scenario of how the Herbert would currrently have to be programmed to do what you want it to do -

Let's say you only want channel 1. You have to create a patch that only has channel 1 selected. Same goes for the other two channels. So we now have patches 1-3 programmed with only channel 1 - channel 3 selected respectively.

Now lets say you want channel 1 with the mid cut. Now you have to create a 4th patch with channel 1 selected along with the mid cut selected. Same goes for if you want mid cut on with channels 2 and 3 selected. Now we're up to 6 patches used.

Now you want to go back to just channel 2 only. You must recall patch #2 to make this happen.

Basically the way it currently works is that you have to create a patch for each channel/function configuration. While this will most certainly work, the catch to it is that you either have to remember or write down which patches hold which configurations. This is the only way it can currently be switched from the controller.

What my code will do is allow you to assign "instant access" buttons (if your MIDI controller is equipped with them) to each function, then use these IA switches to select/deselect each channel/function directly without having to create a patch for each configuration. The same goes for my foot switch box. Simply purchasing the Columbus will not allow you to directly select/deselect the channels/functions like you think it will...nor will the RJM Mastermind...nor will any controller for that matter because Diezel's current MIDI software is not written to allow this. Even if the Columbus COULD send out CC instant access messages, it still would not work because Diezel's software is not written to allow you to do this. It's not the controller...it's the way Diezel's software is written to respond to it.

While it may appear that I'm trying to cram my products down your throat, this is simply not the case. You're looking for something that will give you direct access to each channel/function on the amp from the floor. Since your amp is a pre-MkII model, there is nothing currently on the market that will do this and as far as I am aware, I am currently the only one who has done any R&D to come up with 3rd party accessories that will provide this functionality. If there were other companies out there offering products that will do what you're wanting I would refer you to them. But there aren't any...and is the reason I even got involved with the Herbert model in the first place. I'm doing this all for the sake of filling a void for what Diezel owners have wanted for years...the same thing you want. All I'm trying to do is get you set up with the right gear that will give you exactly what you're looking for. It really sux and I hate to see anyone wasting money on gear that will not give you the functionality that you're looking for.

I understand what you're saying and I want to buy one just to have. It will at least give me 10 different options to switch back and forth to. I really only use about 5 or 6 different variations anyways. I play death metal, its not like I need a clean channel or anything   I appreciate all your info and will probably buy one of your switches too when they are ready. I spoke with one of my musician friends here in Tulsa last night on the phone and he has a Columbus and it does exactly what he wants it to do for him. I dont require alot from a switch. Im a low maintenance gear whore :D

OK...I just wanted to make sure that you fully understand that as of currently there is nothing on the market as of yet that will give you "direct access" to each of the channels/functions on the floor so that you weren't disappointed once you got the gear. Wouldn't it suck to buy gear thinking that it would give you that only to find out the hard way that it won't? As pricey as gear can be, it's always good to be armed with the correct knowledge prior to purchasing gear so that you fully know what to expect.

I totally understand and appreciate your concern. After playing the Herbert today Im not even sure if Im gonna buy a switch for it. I cant really bond with the amp as of yet. I will let you know. Thanks for all of your time/consideration. You rock
