Yeah I really suck at the bass. But it's still lots of fun to play. Great to have both. I use Positive Grid Bias's SVT sim into a FRFR cab.

And just 'cause, here's a pic of my beloved NS5

Nice bass cardinal! Looks like a nicer/prettier version of the one my bass player plays. Someone mentioned playing with your fingers; I already do that on guitar and whenever I pick up bass I don't even think of using a pick.

I don't know the difference between a piccolo, 3/4 scale or some of these other descriptors I've seen. Pretty lost here.

All a piccolo bass is, is a bass that uses lighter strings and is tuned higher. The lowest note on a standard tuned piccolo would be the E note on the A string at the 7th fret of a regular, standard tuned bass. I guess that was a long winded way of saying it's tuned and octave higher that a normal bass :D

And a 3/4 (aka short) scale bass is just a bass with a shorter neck. Still tuned exactly the same as a regular bass. Just easier to play, especially for people of a smaller stature. Fender Jazz and Precision basses have a 34 inch neck. While their Mustang bass, which is a short scale, is just 30 inches. I find them extremely fun to play. Some people feel that the short scale basses don't have the low end punch of a full size bass.
