I have it and strongly recommend the HBE Frostbite if you want the Gilbert whammy thing. I have both of them.
The AF2 is cool for a soupy flange/phaser sound, but i am quite disappointed with the whammy sound. The sweep simply isn't wide enough. If you press the button, it whammies without you even playing a note. if you play a note, you can barely hear it under the whammy. you can vary the speed but, again, the sweep isn't very wide. it sounds cool if you just want to quickly shift your sound, but for a long dive bomb, it just doesn't deliver. The AF2 is cool if you like a barracuda flange or something analog chorusy. It's far removed from doing "unchained." Buildwise, it seems cheap and the knobs have come loose several times.
The HBE is more money, but i think there's a MUCH wider variety of sounds, and the whammy is killer. Joel at HBE said that Gilbert has one. Gilbert says the Ibanez is the best flange he's ever heard. BS. I can understand Paul's business loyalty, but the HBE is much more versatile and if whammying is your thing, it'll do that. The HBE doesn't completely nail paul's ADA flange whammy, but it's still over the top and sounds much better than Ibanez's attempt. The HBE really doesn't do the unchained thing either.
here's a great demo of the Frostbite. Spend the extra $$ if you're looking for a cool flanger.
2:47 is where you get a taste of the whammy. the demoing guy doesn't hold onto it long enough for you to hear the wide sweep, but you can hear how it takes over your sound.
