Ibanez J-Custom or Jackson Custom shop?

Both are pretty great. Jackson likely will have a compound radius and OFR. J Custom used a straight radius and one of their Edge trems. Ibanez probably won't have an ebony board. Really there are some differences that is assume people have a preference for.

I've had both and I preferred the Jackson Custom Shop guitars I've owned. In the end, I prefer the OFR and I liked the neck shapes and body shapes better from Jackson. The Jacksons I've owned sounded better too - the J-Customs I owned were very bright, but that could just have been the ones I got. Fit and finish are great on both. I still think either is a great guitar.

FWIW the J Custom I owned was inherently dark. It was a great guitar, but I ultimately sold it because I prefer to use a Charvel for that type of thing, so I guess my vote is for Jackson, but I also prefer the OFR, the rounder but more substantial neck, and the compound radius. Lots of folks love the Edge trems, the very thin and flat Wizard neck, and are just fine with a straight radius.

I have a Jackson custom shop soloist and it is truly amazing.

I'd lean towards J Custom.. Those I've had (and still have) are incredible instruments, crafted to perfection and performance all round. That said, I like the no-frills Soloist look and 'mojo' more and would kill to have a Soloist as good as those J Customs. I've had a handful of USA Selects and none of them were acceptable, for me (bridge issues), so I couldn't just leap into buying one without going through it very carefully and with ample time. Alas, there aren't any around so I'll stick to what I know works

Jackson every time. Their master builders make some trully great guitars! But know, there is a very long wait (2 Years) for a Jackson custom.

..If you're looking for a Superstrat, I'd check out the Schecter custom shop too.

Just contacted Rainbow guitars about a custom select. They said the custom selects are running about 8 months wait time - not too bad. I've always wanted a Kelly.
I wasn't sure if the J-Customs had the super thin necks or not, if they do, that's a deal killer for me.

^ the ones I've played aren't paper thin, but they are certainly thinner than most. (Seems like the Ibanez necks from the late '80s to early 90s are the ones that are silly thin IME). I think they feel nice, but the Jackson necks I've played do seem to have more to them.

I'll take a J Custom anytime over a Jackson! The fretwork is unbelievable on them. Again, it is all a preference.

I really liked the J custom that I had, it burned nice and hot and really warmed the house up. They come from the factory fire place ready, being able to un bolt the neck and all. :D

I'd love to have your arsenal of Diezel! Wow! Talk about a tone factory!

I'll take a Suhr Modern over both myself.

Meh

Suhr Modern: definitely play before you buy. I love the Standard but did not like the feel of the Modern body shape .

I'm a dealer for Jackson and Ibanez both but personally would go for a Rune Thorn over a Jackson CS.
