Just wonder has anybody uses the SD9 for boosting and tightening up for high gain amp ... If yes how does it compares to the classic od808 ? The Japanese maker of SD9 has a new improved version of it has anybody check it yet ?

Never tried one. But it would probably work well enough. I sometimes like my hyper-metal as a boost with those strong active eqs.

Have not tried the SD9 but do have a TS9 and a a Boss SD1. I tend to like the TS9 with 5150 types and the SD1 with Marshall types. Probably doesn't help but worth mentioning I guess.

With the millions of boosts and general Tubescreamer stuff out there, the SD9 isn´t one in my book. Lots of distortion, no edgy mid peak, more bass than many popular choices. It´s not that closely related to the TS family.

I have the Maxon SD9 and it's a great pedal; quite underrated IMO

It will do what you want if you crank the level and leave the drive off, but I think there are better options for that specific need.

The real magic of the SD9 is in it's smooth distortion tone if you turn the tone knob low (or off)
