  I was just watching that Stand Alone vid on youtube   Came across them from doing a search on Larry amps.

I'll check out the speed one you posted

Nice how the European crowds get into a live show; chanting, singing and clapping along.

Man are they ever tight and the guitar tone is crushing! I opened up another tab in my browser and just listened to a bunch of stuff from "Alive in Athens" while I was surfing

this is in my personal territory

iced earth has always been great - check out a few more of this genre:

dream evil, edguy, mystic prophecy, nightrage, nightwish, angra

iced earth = killer band. I think they have one of the tightess rythm section of US thrash metal. (all their drummers were genious)

I don't like much dark saga album (too slow) nor anything after horror show, but the first three albums RULES

Killer tone studio & live... that's the first reason why I want a Larry amp

STAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNDDD ALONE !!!

Iced Earth is an excellent band. I liked them up until Alive In Athens but after that album I lost interest in any of the further release.

Yeah they're badass. I've also been into Firewind lately. That's another band kind of in that vein, but pretty exceptional sounding.

framing armageddon and the crucible man tones > any metal tone I can think of

I have Framing Armageddon but i feel that the songs are pretty flat on that disc, boring to listen to overall. So thier early stuff is better? Isn't that the case with every band!

I wouldn't say better
I would say different
but I was talking tone anyway

Framing Armageddon is only catchy when you understand the message behind the lyrics, and Tim Owens did a pretty good job in expressing that
this album seems to have a huge Battlestar Galactica influence

my favorite one is Something Wicked This Way Comes (1998?), but nothing beats that last two albums tones

he recorded using a larry amp?

damn - might have to look into finding some clips. wonder if there are any here on the board

Something Wicked This Way Comes is very awesome indeed. Very good tone. No bad songs.
I got hooked on them when first hearing '1776'. 'Blessed Are You' is another killer from that album.
Their recent stuff isn't really too cool IMHO, I mean..."when the eagle cries" ??? get the f¤%¤"% outta here
I just bought the SWTWC reissue...sounds great

I can also vouch for other bands mentioned in this thread, Dream Evil, Firewind and Nightrage. (all three feature guitarist Gus G at some point, now of Ozzy fame) These three bands have another thing in common, I prefer all bands' first two albums, go figure ;)

Nightrage rocks! the newest record I find the weakest but have been rocking out to them for about five years now!

That tone is ridiculously great. On the "Stand Alone" video you can see part of the Larry Dino at about 2:21.

The youtube clips were put down... PM me your email adress i'll send 'em. Mike Fortin was kind enough to send em to me. KILLER tone and playing, and it's not just the overdriven tones that gives me wet dreams... Mr Larry is on the forum, Novosibir is his username.

Here I am, but please no "Mr" in front of my name, because I'm just a guy like you all, a freak, a sound freak, a guitar sound freak
