I've had that done years ago to mine (a rackmount SLO) by a good tech. He also added a return level pot for the loop. That way the two channel volume pots act as send level and the return level is used a global master volume for overall volume, without affecting anything inserted in the loop. Also, the loop sounds better after the tone stack. It hasn't taken away anything from the original tone of the amp IMHO. Just make sure beforehand the tech knows what he's doing...
