If I like LP Standards, will a Classic disappoint?

The higher up you go on the LP food chain ($$$), the better your chances are of getting “a good one” IMO. However, there will always be needle in a haystack, lowly Studios and other lower cost finds out there that are as good as ANY high dollar LP.

I don't know if I was lucky or I am a total Gibson ignorant but my 2018 Tribute is an amazing guitar. Loving it so much, I wish one day to be able to afford a more expensive LP

I can’t do a LP without body and fretboard binding

ABR bridge, fwiw.

Ran the racks at GC, who had just acquired Mars stock, in 02.
Hated the looks, but that ugly Classic was cheaper and played better than any standard and most customs.
Closest thing I could find to the 78 Custom I foolishly sold to buy a PRS in 98.
I've noticed Beato, and a lot of pros play those old Classics.
I forgot about the ABR.

I had an early 2000s Classic that really was a nice guitar. Loved it but sold it when I ended up stacked with Historic Reissues. But the Classic was just as nice a guitar and the thin neck was really cool.

Well that’s not very DEI of you
I'm the same way. With LPs and DEI.

I had a 2020 tribute. Best playing and sounding LP I had. Fucker actually stayed in tune.

Yep mine is a recent one too. I was able to shoot it out in person with some studios, standards, customs, and historics.

There's a reason I went home with the classic 🤷

It's not gonna happen everytime, but you can find absolutely killer lower end Gibsons

I've played studios that killed historics; it's just they are rare to find, and the historics are going to be more consistent

In my experience, you might be able to find a more expensive one that's better, but don't sell the one you vibe with to do it.

That's a pathway to disappointment.

There's tons of lower end Gibsons that for whatever reason have "it"; you just have to sift through the rack to find them.

With historics and customs, it's gonna be a lot easier to find "the one"; but what you're really paying for is the convenience of not sorting through hundreds of guitars
