if you could play any guitar rig ever, who/when would it be?

Robert Fripp's rig from the Thrak tour.

He had it all on that tour, from searing solo tones to weird hybrid synth/guitar soundscapes.

Joe Holmes ozzy rig

EVH fuck/balance

J from white zombies astro creep tone. It's just a wall of crunch I've always dug

Dare I even say Eddie rig circa 1978?

^^^^^ I'm down with that...good call bud.

I'm surprised that only we said that. Usually when it comes to tone, amps, etc.. Ed is a high thread count.

I thought everyone would've at least mentioned it..
I guess we're just ahead of the curve bro...

Ty Tabors Gretchen rig

Now we're talkin!

Nuno's rig would be cool to jam through, as well as Jerry Cantrell's. I think Jerry's would be at the top of my list.

Zakk's No Rest For The Wicked rig.
He recorded that on a Marshall combo .... truth.

Aw come on. Shit!
I had a hard time believing that too ... it was a JCM-800 100 watt combo quadruple tracked i believe.

not sure where you get the info from chester? .... every single thing I have ever read about his rig around that time is he was using Metaltronix gear (made by lee jackson)

He used the L. Jackson stuff for the tour.

I have seen pics of the guitars & combo for the album.

He later ditched the L. Jackson rack stuff for Marshalls.

every interview I have seen with him he says the tone on the album is metaltronix. I have seen a pic of him in a studio standing in front of a metaltronix cab with a silver jubilee on top but have never heard any thing about him recording with a marshall until NMT

actually I stand corrected. Just found this interview from around 2014 and indeed it appears that zakk recorded NRFTW with the lee jackson stuff but wasn't happy with the results so redid it with a jcm 800 combo

apologies chester

-so Zak didn't like the tone everyone considers his best, Zak is a sheep, a remember an interview with him and DIME-(anyone remember when they were in the mutual admiration society)-Zak said he couldn't stand doing any of the old BLACK SABBATH stuff-(pretty much word for word ripping off Randy Rhodes statement)-DIME speaks up and said "I wish I could get paid to play stuff like INTO THE VOID to this day that song sends shivers up my spine"...... Fast forward, Zak now plays a lot of the ole BLACK SABBATH song's in the Black Label Society, including INTO THE VOID & JR's EYES... amongst many more...

sorry can you even read?? they redid the guitars "before" the album was released so the EPIC tone that everyone thinks is his best (NRFTW) is marshall not metaltronix

Please post a link to where zakk said he couldn't stand doing sabbath stuff........he has never said anything even remotely like that

Oh and its Randy RHOADS

I can't believe you and I are the only ones that mentioned Fair Warning. Don't get me wrong, I love a bunch of the other tones guy's mentioned in this thread, but my God the various tones on Fair Warning is just all kinds of bad ass!
