....Do yourself a favor and try them through a real quality cab, like a Bogner, Diezel, Mills, and I would include my new to me Rivera K412T. And others I'm sure. The sound I get out of this Rivera cab is unreal....I also played a buddy's Bogner V30 cab....amazing. I'm on the hunt for one. A quality cab takes a speaker I've always been 'meh' on and makes it my favorite. I have a JCM 800 4104 and the only Marshall I've liked with V30s is a Jubilee. Not anymore. Turn the mids down a bit and its awesome. Mark 2C+? Made for V30s. Anyway don't write V30s off till you play them through one of the quality cabs out there!

V30's are an essential part of my cabinets. I run X patterns in both, and regardless of what two of them are, they are always matched to the V30's in each :)

Quality cabs make a difference for sure. I like V30s, but am very partial to the Mesa V30s. Just a little smoother midrange and plays well with a lot of amps.

I found that the old Line6 cabs that come with the V30 sound pretty awesome, and you can usually find them pretty cheap. I'm holding my son's while he is overseas, and it sounds great with my Legacy and EVH III 50 heads. My personal cab is a Splawn with V30s and G12H Heritage, I really like that mix as well.

I'm running V30's in my Fryette 412 and it crushes with my D Moll.

Agreed. I will add that what the amp is voiced with can make or break it's potential with a speaker, though. I went through a love hate thing with them at one point a few years back when I was really getting into trying out different amps, but it turns out my main amp at the time was voiced around greenbacks. It was a struggle to get it sounding right with V30's. But yeah, V30's rip. I love them with my Fortins and EVH Stealth. I've been partial to the Mesa ones for a little while too.

Yup. Marshalls for instance...V30s can be just too much overbearing midrange....except with a darker Jubilee. But the top V30 cabs really smooth out the harshness, totally changing them for the better. Never hated V30s but they weren't my favorite..until now.

I'll agree with this. I don't use V30's, but I had 2 crate blue voodoo 4x12's back years ago and even though they were v30 loaded sounded like asshole.

I had a quad of T3904 V30s in my first Bogner cab and a Hellatone 60 in a Laney AOR 30 combo. I tried really hard to love them but never got there. However, the Marshall-labeled V30s with T3987 magnets are fantastic. I had a 1960BV with those but made the mistake of selling it. Later I was able to trade for a 1960AV and put those suckers in the Bogner cab. Now I have an excellent match for my SLO clone. I absolutely love these speakers. My only wish is that they would have the sweet woody lows of saturated Greenbacks. :aww:

V30's are my go to speaker. They just need to be well broken in.

They work for me. ;)

Another vote for the Mesa V30. it's by far my favorite speaker, especially since Diezel amps are designed with the V30 being the designated speaker.

I just scored a Mills Afterburner loaded with four V30's, and I'm running it with an Engl Fireball 100. Sounded great, but not quite my flavor. A tad harsh and honky in the mids. Changed out two of them for two G12T75 's, and what a difference. Still getting that wicked mids from the 30's, and that chunk from the scooped 75's. Awesome combo for the brutalz. Bogner definitely knew what he was doing with that.

I totally agree! I have a Randall cab with V30's, and while I'm not a big fan of Randall stuff, this cab is great! I also have a Framus 2x12 with V30's that kills.

I found an Uberkab for 450 and I put it on hold at a GC....gotta wait till funds replenish a bit after the holidays lol...

I dumbassedly listened to the reviews of the v30.. sounds harsh.. good for nothing but metal.. pulled the trigger and bought 2 to mix with 2 evh's in an evh cab.. Maaaaaaaan! I love 'em. After being brutalized for hours with a 6505+, evh 5153 100 watt, and a BE 100, they crush. everything from easy listening to speed metal. love 'em.

My drummer dabbles with guitar, he's got one of my old amps plus an Ampeg VL half stack. The cab has V30s and sounds worse than ass. I always bring a rig there, he wonders why I don't just hook an amp up to his cab.....ugh. Night and day difference compared to the Rivera K412.

Just because of the cab?

IMO yes. I've played my amps through it, ugh. And they are V30s, I opened it up at one point thinking they were G12 70s. Not sure what the cab is made of but its wired correctly so has to be the cab. And this cab is 22 years old so those speakers are broken in and made in England.

I'll have to agree with ya' and everyone else.. the Ampeg cab in my avatar is VERY bass heavy (Pretty sure by design, 1971 or 72) so it would make a difference what speaker you put in it.. the stock ones are ruined, and I'm trying g12h 70 anniversaries and t-75s in an x pattern, so far at low volumes, BOOM BOOM BOOM, but at higher volumes, it cuts like a knife, not what I expected, but pleasantly surprised. the speakers are brand new, so need some bashing in.. next will be removing t-75 and replace with v30, and close up ports.
