if you don't like V30s.....

I agree.

I have a pair of Bogner 1x12 cubes with v30's and they sound great with every amp I have connected them to.

What a STEAL!! \m/  \m/

And I thought I stole my GB-loaded wheat Bogner at $550

I just scored a Mills Afterburner loaded with four V30's, and I'm running it with an Engl Fireball 100. Sounded great, but not quite my flavor. A tad harsh and honky in the mids. Changed out two of them for two G12T75 's, and what a difference. Still getting that wicked mids from the 30's, and that chunk from the scooped 75's. Awesome combo for the brutalz. Bogner definitely knew what he was doing with that.

That's CHEAP!

Love V30s with the EVH 50 watt...I run it through an orange 2x12 OB and 2 1x12s sometimes, both sound great but like others have said they need to be broken in a bit and how you dial in the amp..

I hate V30s when alone in a room. But I don't want anything else when I play with a band.

This is a very important advantage of V30s.

I just bought one of those! $650 marked down to $450! It was too good to pass up. While it sounded great, I dug the Mills more, so I took the Uberkab back on Wednesday. The Uber was darker and looser than the Mills. Killer cab, but the Mills is more my flavor, and I already have too many 4x12's. But I couldn't help myself for that price!

Exactly how I feel about V30s.

Cab makes a big difference. I loaded a quad of vintage 30's in one of my Cameron 4x12's (which is basically a Bogner cabinet ) and it sounded just okay...kind of loose in the bottom end. Put them back in the Boogie 4x12 and they were tight with that punch and pop the Mesa cabinets are known for. I have never liked Marshall cabinets with vintage 30's. They were always bright and harsh. FWIW, the Cameron cabinets sound killer with the Anniversary H30's.

Dude, I think there were 2 at that same GC in Chicago? Because I saw 2 at the same store and when I clicked they were both gone. Next day I saw one still there lol....gave them a call. So maybe I'm getting the one you returned?

....Do yourself a favor and try them through a real quality cab, like a Bogner, Diezel, Mills, and I would include my new to me Rivera K412T. And others I'm sure. The sound I get out of this Rivera cab is unreal....I also played a buddy's Bogner V30 cab....amazing. I'm on the hunt for one. A quality cab takes a speaker I've always been 'meh' on and makes it my favorite. I have a JCM 800 4104 and the only Marshall I've liked with V30s is a Jubilee. Not anymore. Turn the mids down a bit and its awesome. Mark 2C+? Made for V30s. Anyway don't write V30s off till you play them through one of the quality cabs out there!

If you're loving those V30's, why don't you sell me your JCM800 cab?

Is this one of the oversized Mesa cabs?

Don't care for vintage 30's at all. Glad all of you love them so I can hopefully get deals on used cabs that have other speakers.

Possibly! I returned it to the GC in Bedford Park on 72nd and Cicero. It was in really good shape and didn't have casters. It was rear loaded and sounded really broken in. It sounded great and if I didn't prefer the Mills to it by a nose, I'd have kept it.

Can someone explain to me why the fuck are they called vintage 30's when they are a 60w speaker.....
I like them with amps that needs mids to be heard , but for amps like marshall's and Soldano's with strong midrange there are better options imo .

Agree with skoora and JB. Getting great results with WGS speakers these days: ET-65, Liberator, ET-90. All voiced off the old Celestion G12T-65 speakers that came in the JCM800 lead cabs. They sound way better with all my amps. Only things that rival are my Marshall 425A/B cabs and my 1960B with H30's. Dead heat is anything with Splawn Small/Big Blocks.

Looooove vintage 30's.. its all I use. They were originally intended to be a higher power version of a 30 watt celestion.. hence the name. Same idea behind the creambacks.

yeah this for me. Have run amps through mesa cabs and a mojave cab load with them and I just don't like them. I hear to much "speaker tone" with them.

Have just today scored a combo with a V30 in it so will load up my marshall cab with it and see how I like the EVH with it

Can you tell me more about the ET90's ?
A few years ago i had a quad of the ET65's in a 4X12 and like them but i felt they were slightly to soft in the top end , but great with open back cabinet situations though .
I'm looking to load another Avatar Vintage 4X12 with some WGS but not sure which ones yet .
