especially for brutal metal. my rig has never sounded better than with this GFS vintage 59 in the bridge of my SG, sooo clear and punchy. maybe the walnut body helps too

I bought a Screamin Demon a long time ago and was disappointed at first because of the lack of gain/output. After awhile I realized that the pup really sounded great with high gain, and it took away a lot of harshness associated with hotter pups. I still don't like low output pups for rock/metal though.  I'm too addicted to the feel of hotter pups. I don't like fighting my guitar to get what I want from it.

Same here. Nothing beats a Gibson Classic 57 to my ears these days. I also like the Duncan Pearly Gates in the right guitar. The highest output I will go is something along the lines of the WCR Godwood............great pup

This coming from someone who has used everything from a Dirty Fingers to a WCR Ironman. I am also probably the only one on here that doesn't get the MCP Afwayu. I couldn't stand that pup in either a Les Paul or an alder superstrat

I have never gotten along with lower output pickups.

Although, I have been finding myself lowering high output pickups more and more. I am definitely finding a more balanced, clear tone by having them 1/4" away from the strings or more.

Then again, more of my guitars have EMG's than passives

my current thinking is to go with quality higher output pickups and install series/tap/parallel mini-toggle switches for them. Then you can pretty much have it all and it's controllable right from the guitar. And it's such a cheap mod
