I'm looking for new speakers - Heritage H30s or M25s?

I really like 70th anny H30s for rhythm playing - especially on my low B. They have bigger and tighter lows compared to the RI M25s, but the Greenbacks have those thick sounding mids for solos. I'm looking to find a quad of speakers that combines these qualities...and no, I don't want mix them in an x pattern.

Heritage H30s - are they tight like the 70th? Do they have the harsh upper-mids and highs like the 70th?

Heritage M25s - are they tighter or softer than the reissues?

EVHs - are these just heritage M25s with a black back and a new label? I know they are supposed to be copies of the 20 watt black backs, but I'm hearing different things. How tight are the lows on these?

Well, you know what they say...better late than never.

BTW - I hear you offer a "break in" for your speakers. How long is your break-in time for your speakers?

 

[Scumback Speakers]

The break in time is 18-20 hours depending on the speaker ohm/power handling. It's done by hooking up a variac to two 4x12 ISO cabs. The variac sends a constant 60 cycle hum (think low E string on a bass) to the speakers at a voltage equal to 1/3rd their power handling. That exercises the speaker, making all the cone fibers and suspension parts get flexed. It's the equivalent of playing a speaker for 40-50 hours on stage at gig volumes.

And thanks for reminding me....the 8 I put on yesterday at 11am are due to be taken off and the next 8 go in.

Since I started offering this service, it's really taken off and become popular. Over 1/2 my orders now specify FBI service. I had two 30 speaker orders come in last week (60 total). Only 8 were ordered without full break in (FBI).

If this keeps up I'll have to get a 3rd 4x12 FBI box to keep up with demand.

That's an awesome service. I usually prefer to buy speakers used just for this purpose, but who knows what the previous owner did with them.

The FBI service is great. I bet it gets a annoying though, hearing all those speakers plugging away.

G12M's are available in both 55 and 75 hz if they're older (through 79), only 75 hz since the 80's if it's a G12M 25w "Greenback".

If your speaker has a T1221 frame code, then it's the 75hz or my M75. If it's the T1511 frame code, then it's a 55hz, M55.

The H's are a completely different speaker than what you're looking to get close to.
