Can he swing from a web?
No he can't; he's a Valve.
Look out! He is a Spider Valve.

Sweet raptor jesus!

I wouldn't mind trying the 112 combo actually. I'd rather wait to pick up a used one though.

DEFINATELY seems like it will be VERY capable. I can't imagine why not!! Bogner does tubes like a beast, Line 6 does modeling and SS like a beast, so when they combine... THEY MAKE A SUPERBEAST!!

yes oh yes....i am still laughing hahahahahahah
josh

that is still cracking me up oh my god...

I dunno. I am a giant Line 6 hater, but that looks like it has big potential.

But it's still Line 6. Would you use a Line 6 processor in the loop of your Bogner..? Maybe that's cool.

think of it moreso along the lines of a bogner preamp into a line6 amp.....

it depends... when you mate male lion with a female tiger you get a bad ass called a liger. But if you mate a male tiger with a female lion, you get a little runt called a tigon. :D

:hys: Tigon... never heard that before!!! :hys: Why is the tigon a runt, but the liger a badass? IMO, both lions and tigers kickass, so any combination of the two would be a badass.

Tigon's are real, but it's apparantly pretty rare because the mating process is difficult.

From what I got of the Line 6 website I'd say a Bogner preamp would be a stretch. Albeit he did help/design with the tube section and there are preamp tubes. According to the specs on the Line 6 website, they don't even have a Bogner amp model on this thing. I can't for the life of me fiugre out the logic in that. http://www.line6.com/spidervalve/index.html
From the Line 6 site:
And the “flavor” of the tones in the general... similar to Spider III? Similar to a Bogner amp?

Neither really. The amp models cover the same names and styles as in a Spider III – you know, Clean, Crunch, Insane, etc. – but the tuning, voicing and experience is really unique to the Spider Valve design with particular emphasis on the mid-gain tones.

By the looks of it, this is nothing more than the same Spider III Preamp (in regards to modeling and fx) with some re-voicing, preamp tubes, and power tubes. I don't know...I'm not impressed by what's on paper. The least they could have done was redesign the Spider to have Bogner models. You can get them on the PODs, so why not make some Bogner models for the Spider amp w/the Bogner name on it? I guess they didn't want to spend the extra money. And although this would be the buyers fault, I can only imagine how many buyers there are going to be simply because of the tubes and Bogner affiliation and when they get their SpiderValve be incredibly disappointed to realize there are no Bogner models. All that being said, where is the benefit, if any, to the SpiderValve over a POD XT or XT Pro into a tube power amp?

Of course the true test will be hearing it in person, but I'm very skeptical at this point. I'm not a Line 6 hater, because if I'm wrong that 1X12 looks pretty tasty. However, they're not breaking any new ground IMO.

Eventually the preamp modeling front end will become obsolete, and you will be left with a made in China tube amp.

this is taken from the spider valve manual . dont get so sold on the name of the models

There are 12 Amp Models and 7 Effects Models living within your Spider Valve. These Models were all tuned and tweaked in close collaboration with Reinhold Bogner.[/b]

I could care less about a Bogner model. I would be MORE than satisfied with a modeling amp that does a high gain tone that doesn't sound like cheap, plastic, processed dogshit.

I wasn't trying to create the impression that I was getting sold on the models, but I guess I did :D
GTR31,
That's good to hear Reinhold helped tweak the models. I missed that. Lets hope the Spider III is a capable of enough template for Reinhold to work his magic.

Megadeth,
I agree with ya. Whether or not it had Bogner models would not be the deciding factor for me to purchase, it just seems a bit silly they don't. Tone and feel are key, and if it has then I'd love a 1x12 for a practice amp. That fact they don't have Bogner models is just part of my main skepticism towards the amp.

I'm just venting and talking out loud here so take it with a grain of salt if you wish, but I guess my biggest question is why they used the far from perfect Spider III digital preamp and models as a template? In the digital modeling realm where new techonology plays a big factor at times, it appears with companies like Fractal and Vox (already using a tube in the pre) that Line 6 is starting into the race a little late using the older technology of the Spider III. Someone could have golder ears and superhuman voicing abilities, but if the tools they have to work with don't match their capabilities...

I just don't see why they didn't update the digital teachnology, or at least use the POD XT, XT Pro, or Vetta pre? I mean they had Reinhold's ears at their disposal, why didn't they let him tweak tweak their best? And who knows, maybe they will and just want to test the success of this before they dump some serious cash into R/D. Or it could just be sales, since people will buy this now and then buy again when they update the pre or come out with something entirely new. It just bugs, because it seems so close.

Again, I'm curious to hear it. I'm just unusually skeptical. That's all.

I think a lot of it has do do with what Line6 says .Its simplicity.
Reinhold probably wanted a very simple platform to work from to see how well it would work., if you read the articles .apparently this simple spider took over a year ..now maybe they do have something like an HD147 tube that is under construction who knows an new flex valve with new models?
if you watch the spider overview you will see reinhold plugged in to the chasiss of an Uber or XTC.

I think Bogner is VERY critical his name is glowing on the front , he doesnt need money .

My guess is even though line 6 calls it it 80s lead .it very well could have been tested against an XTC red .again I dont think Bogner would let crap go out with his name displayed .
I bet it was tested back and forth until he finally said "yes" thats damn close

I think that they should have started with the Flextone as a jump off point. I have never cared for the spider line, because they do not allow enough control over the tone and effects. I'm sure that these will sound nice, but I think they chose the wrong jump off platform.

I'll still keep my trust tube amp a select pedals though. ;)
