When I first received my M4, I've gotta tell you that I was not in love with the COD. It sounded very flat and middy and not very gutsy or full-range compared to the other modules. My small-single-coil guitars (Strat and Tele) liked it, and that was about it, I thought.

The more I play through it, with more guitars and with more / different FX, the more I like it. Every day I find a different tone on it that makes me think, "Wait - I've heard that somewhere before - where?" The tone is definitely cut from a different cloth, and that means that you can get standout sounds.

You guys with Eventide ModFactors and COD modules:

Call up the ModFactor factory preset at 12:1 (I think) (if you still have it) and run it through the COD. One of the oddest sounds I've ever heard. :D

I thought I'd use it only for leads (especially the "neck pup, rolled-off highs" tones), but lately I've been using the COD for relatively gainy rhythm sounds too. Like you say - if you start experimenting there are many great and diverse tones in there.

+1

I always like to see COD fanboi threads. I fell in love with my COD almost instantly, but I REALLY like midrangy gain. :D (not to say I don't also enjoy the EG5 on a regular basis too!)

The COD is a fantastic Module. I use channel A for light gain rhythm stuff and channel B for Gritty leads.
I love the unique tone that it delivers.

just traded my COD for a 2nd VX module and was happy to do so. I hate mids and always cut them, could not get rid of them on the COD - duh its supposed to sound like that (yeah, not for me).
