I'm tired of my 4x12, yet can't GIVE it away!

I have a Marshall MF280 cab on the block right now. It has the original V30MF speakers which I could most likely sell for just about what I have the cab listed for. Was hoping to keep the cab stock though for the next owner.

The cab looks great in my jam room so it is entirely possible that I part out the speakers and let the cab just be furniture.

There's a clean one of those cabs on CL here locally for $330.

I have a Randall RD412 cab, (matching Diavlo cab) that's very well-built, solid, triple-ported and loaded with V30's, (which is what it came with), but I later swapped out 2 for G12T-75's. It sounds huge, but it doesn't play nice with my JSX. At this point, I just want something new, (don't want to start the speaker swap rabbit hole cycle). I paid $649 for it new, (they were $849, but I got it in a blowout sale). I've had it listed for $200 on CL for MONTHS. Tire-kickers, and lowballers. I think $200 is a stupid good deal!

I'd really like to try an EVH 4x12 with the JSX, or, downsize to a 2x12, and load it myself with Creambacks, or other warmer beefier Greenbacks. But, I'm stuck with this damn 4x12, and don't have room for a second cab.

FWIW, I had a hell of a time selling a 1960 cab at one point a couple years back. Took 6 months to get $350 for it, and it was pristine.

hah dude, I've been so tempted to grab that from you, it really is a killer deal. I just don't have room for 1 more 4x12. The speakers alone are worth more. I can't believe people are low balling you at that price.

It blows my mind every time I see it pop up, that it hadn't been snagged yet.

Good luck with the sale bro.

Had a guy emailing me for a week asking questions, serious interest, etc., then offered $100. Guy pissed me off. Then after I told him to piss off, he started harassing me. Had to block his email address!

I find it interesting that, at least based on my observations, 2x12s seem to hold their value better. I guess because 4x12s only appeal to guys who gig, and don't have much practical use in a home situation.

Regardless, if I was near you I'd probably have taken you up on the offer. I love 4x12s.

Last 4x12 I moved was a decent cond empty Mojo and when I was offered a straight up trade for a minty empty Rivera 2x12 I took it. That 2x12 wasn't that hard to sell.

I just checked my local CL - plenty of good 4X12 cabinets listed, many for +/- $100.00.
I had a Mesa Boogie Road Ready cabinet with EV12L speakers that I couldn't get $500 for, until I sold the speakers for $200.00 each and the empty cabinet for $390.00. Road Ready MESA/Boogie by John Bazzano, on Flickr
A couple of months later I bought another M/B RR cabinet for $800.00. MESA/Boogie Road Ready pre Rola Celestion by John Bazzano, on Flickr
I sold the speakers for $1,850.00. I guess people really like 1968 Celestions.

I've always wanted to build a cabinet (as in a shelf cabinet) out of a 4x12. Of course that takes up a lot of space.

I love 412s, more the merrier...
I'd so much love to have a stage set up similar to Exodus nowadays where they each have 4 4x12s, that sounds like heaven. :D Obviously more would be awesome but I can only fit so much on stage, haha. I don't get the guys who go straight FOH, whether it be a Kemper or with a Two Notes; while it's super convenient, the feeling of cranked 4x12s just cannot be beat.

Worst is listing it locally and having lowballers asking you to ship the thing of course they want that thrown in the offer..

I freaking love 4x12s, how come I can never find anyone giving away a Mesa for <$500

Buy a piece of Plexiglass and some casters!

I wish this guy with the black Orange 4x12 local would drop his from $700 down to some of these prices y'all talking about...

I don't gig. I just want a 4x12 again.

Blackstar V30 loaded 4x12... $700.
Orange V30 loaded 4x12... $700.
Bogner Uberkab V30/G12T75 loaded 4x12... $700.

Anything under $400 seems to be either heavily toured with, a Peavey cab, or one of the Marshall MX cabs. Part of me likes the beatup cab... but just seems fitting that I needs the matching beatup amp on top.

Those prices aren't really realistic. Very much on the high side. Ubdrkab is in the ballbark, but I wouldn't pay more than $5-$550.

Just the opposite for me, my one mesa metal grill 412 sits at home, never seen a gig. My 212's get all the time live.

I see this all over the market, not just cabs, people are just not willing to haul heavy gear much anymore.

Hey man, if I've got 15 minutes to load in and out, I want to make my rig as efficient as possible. If the 2x12 is sufficient and easier to carry, is it any wonder why people would start using it instead?
