Can't believe I finally found this! This is Chris's band "Vice" from New England. I got this on cassette mane from a show at Interskate 91. I was in maybe 8th grade when this came out.

Anyway, Chris was a monster even back then. We had some great players in Wester MA. Hell, Tony McAlpine, was a local as was Doug Blair (WASP) and Mike Mushok. One of the best music scenes I could have hoped to grow up in. Lots of friendly competition and supportive players. Also, Bob Rock is on vocals. Not too shabby ...

Anyway:

Eastern Ma was great too, with Nuno from Extreme and Paul Di Bartolo from Bang and later Spread Eagle. There was also Gene Ditrina from Mass.

New England as a whole was just awesome back then for music. I moved away in 1994. It's funny. Bands I used to open for still play. There was a dude named Anthony Bambino that was a good shredder in a band called Spoiled Rotten that was pretty killer. He went on to do some albums and make a little noise I believe.

I remember buying "Stand In Line" when it came out and was blown away by his playing!
I didn't Know He was in Animetal USA with Rudy Sarzo and Scott Travis. wild stuff!
Check it out!

Nice! Never heard of this project.

Wow blast from the past.

I actually thought he had some killer Rectifier tone on the "crunch" album in the late 90's, liked the 80's shred stuff first of course...

Ballad from that album I used to listen to. :)

That is horrifying.

Steve

I would describe every single aspect of that video as tasteful.

That first tune has a bit of a Deep Purple feel going on.. but with more Shred. Impelliteri really did wish he was Malmsteen from an early age didn't he!

Are you saying that something cannot be horrifying, yet tasteful?

Steve

I am going to have to think about this one for a while. I'll get back to you.

That looks like Kiss had sex with a really bad Saturday morning cartoon.

I had the Speed Soloing Chris Impelliterri video when I was in high school and the guy has speed for sure.

Yeah, Chris is pretty damn fast but also a damn clean player at high speed. I think he blends speed and "taste" pretty ok as well.

To be fair, just about everyone in Western MA wanted to be Malmsteen back then. The first lead parts I learned at 13 were "In My Dreams" and the first part of the lead for "I'll See the Light Tonight".

When I say there was a huge pool of talent between Springfield, MA and Hartford, CT. I am not kidding. Dudes were just crazy. So many skilled players. It was awesome for me as my older brother was a singer in gigging bands so I got to hang out and get tips from all the older dudes. They would let me come to practices and sit in on songs and shit.
