That PV tone has some serious aggression going on  How do you like the V30/H75 mix?

When doing a room mic - it’s good to get the guitar away from said mic so that the strings aren’t audible.

Agreed. It’s incredible that the mic still pick up the string sound. It was really loud ?

Both sound fantastic dude! Can definitely hear the intense bottom end of the Mesa compared to the 5150ii, haha. Mixed I bet that would crush. Recorded clip sounds beastly too, great playing!

I like it a lot! Def my favorite combo at the moment!
I love this combo too.

I also love clips like these. Thx for sharing. I only listened on my iPhone speaker and thought they sounded a bit similar.

Serious question... does this actually do anything for anybody? I can’t think of a more useless clip: an iPhone with a room mic for other people to listen to on.... an iPhone. I mean, it’s just the same old thing here for the last 20 years on these boards... if we are in the business of learning and educating people on how an amp REALLY sounds, properly micing the cabinet, and moving the mic slightly around in a few different spots with the same settings etc is much more beneficial and useful of someone’s times..... your favorite records are the sound of a MICROPHONE on an amp: remember that. A room clip literally shows absolutely nothing, because it’s amazinf his different an amp sounds under a mic

Killer.
Would love to hear those together.

Try it again later with proper headphones. I can hear a big difference. Mixed together, they should sound super huge. Each filling out the other's mids. Kind of like my Splawn and Recto.

I love in-room clips. This one reiterates that for me. Super easy to do as well. You should be allowed to have some fun and share a short comparison :dunno:

It's not like he said "Hey everybody, get in here - I have the best demo of two amps ever made, I even moved the mics around and provided a real in depth breakdown and analysis for everyone. You know, for the forum to learn.

Im well aware of that... but MY point is, maybe instead of the same old 20 year old threads of “hey check out my useless in the room clip that won’t actually tell you how an amp actually sounds!”, we need to change the narrative on what is important in demoing amps, or “up the bar” so to speak as a whole in the guitar world. There is just so much wrong info on boards like these all over the place, and it’s exhausting: so many “truths” that people believe are true, that stem from places like this, and this is just an extension of that.

these clips aren’t that serious, I totally get it and it’s not meant to be taken as a serious clip. But maybe we should START doing that on a more frequent basis, so we can really help people get the best guitar tones possible with the equipment they have. Really learn how to mic your amp, really learn how those minute differences effect your mix as a whole whether it’s live or in the studio. Learn how all those little differences effect your overall tone and even more so, the inspirational value they bring to your playing: I guarantee many would have a new found appreciation of the gear they DO have and the tones they can actually get out of their gear on their own, and probably wouldn’t be flipping gear and chasing tones nearly as much as we all are guilty of. Justttttt something to think about.

Phew...sounds like you need a cocktail and a handful of Xanax or maybe just pull the sharp stick out of your ass.

So maybe create a thread for people to talk about that and how you don't like in-room clips. As a matter of fact, we just had a big thread discussing just that. In-Room vs Mic'd. Guess what? Some people preferred In-Room and some people preferred Mic'd. No reason to crap on Peter's thread. He even did us the courtesy of putting 'in-room' in the thread title. How simple. Ignore it.

There are plenty of Mic'd clips out there. The In-room mike technology has really come a long way. Peter used a Rode microphone - which is probably above average for what it does. And like I said, it is a lot faster and a lot easier, especially if you just want to share something quickly or just have some fun. IMO - we could use a bit more fun.
