I have a Metroplex landing tomorrow or the day after. I am pretty fired up to play it. I have always been a Marshall fan. Supposedly this amp has some bitchin Marshall DNA within the chassis! Cant wait. Its a white Metroplex, built towards the end of 2016.

The guys that have played them, what do you think? Did it have enough gain on tap for you? Do you like the boost? What say you? What setting do you prefer, the Superlead?

I've had mine for almost 2 years now. It's a fantastic amp. Great plexi sounds throughout the amp. The EQ is very responsive. More than any Marshall of the late 60s. And there is more than enough gain on tap. Between the modded 68 mode and the built in boost, there's plenty of gain on tap. It's my favorite amp. I use it for everything. I primarily live on 68 and modded 68 modes but I do enjoy the 66 sounds. Start with your settings at noon and tweak from there. I know that sounds pretty common sense but it's a great place to start.

Congratulations man. I've been wanting a Metroplex for a long time. Sooner or later I'll get around to getting one too. Indeed, especially the new Metroplex is great. I really love the tone. Post some audio man.

That's a good trade for you man! Looking forward to your review!

Looking forward to hear and play this amp in person. Congrats!

my MetroPlex just landed with me last week.

I finally got to crank it up loud over the weekend.

George really knocked it out of the park with this one.

them out of old-style Marshall tones and it is pretty outrageous.

takes petals well.

the built-in boost is great.

second master is awesome.

have an even started playing in the 50 W mode or the variac mode

I really like the 66 mode. especially when boosted with a overdrive.

the 68 mode is really cool and sounds best with a clean boost.

the modded mode is also very cool but you have to be careful with the amount to gain especially with boosting or things can go out of hand quickly.

the amount of variability in the EQ knobs is insane.

there is so much tweak ability.

I find that playing with the midrange control can really add a lot of low meds and upper bass

to me, It sounds best with the gain in the 11 o'clock all the way up to 2 o'clock position with lower output pickups.

anything beyond that and he gets out of hand.

in comparison to my wizard and my Naylor it sounds more classic meaning just like the record you grew up with.

the wizard still has its own thing going on which is much more modern and tighter and unforgiving.

the Naylor is just gooey smooth Marshall.

What do you mean by "getting out a hand"?

out of hand means too much

losing clarity and definition.

ultimately a big reason why i ended up selling the MP (twice) - just too splatty and smeared with modded gain levels for me...and if i was after plexi-type tones, i liked using an authentic type plexi build and the power station

OP did you get your amp yet? Curious to hear how you like it.

yes, got it. no doubt, sounds amazing. I just wasn't a fan of the feel of the amp. I tried it with low, medium and high output pickups and the amp feels the way it feels. It sounded great. if you are looking for plexi or modded plexi its cool for sure. Plus, I think I am used to high gain amps. The gain can get high on the Metroplex, but it doesn't get that Friedman/Cameron modded Marshall punch and massive sound. The Metroplex is exactly what it is supposed to be a 66 45/100 or 68 Superlead with mod mode for each. So yeah, it sounded great for sure, pure Marshall, just not that vicious modded Friedman/Cameron modded Marshall sound I like to play. I traded the Metroplex after just 3 or 4 days with it. I have never unloaded a piece of gear so fast. It just wasn't for me. My last amp was a Masotti x100m and that amp was really bad ass. I wanted to get something more along the lines of that. So, I traded the Metroplex for a 2016 Friedman.
