Hi,

I am totally flashed by some clips of the 3rd power amps, exspecialls the "american dream" combo.

Unfotunately it looks like they are not that popular yet, right? It also looks like they are not available as European-voltage version and no European dealers , right?

I have written a Mail to the guys of 3rd power, but I assume they are very very busy, so I haven`t received any response yet.

Hope somebody has some more info ???

Thanks in advance!

I think Joshsage ships to Europe and he's a dealer of 3rd Power. Hit him up and he'll help you out.

Isn't the voltage easy to mod out?

I would've used the example of my friend's American 6505 that he uses a US-UK plug converter for, but then I remembered you can change voltages on those.

I am sure we could accomodate the voltage change no problem. If you need any assistance let me know. And no, they are not going through tour supply any more, they parted ways.

They are built here in Nashville by one of the guys at Tour Supply.

Give them a call. I think they can hook you up.

They are now handmade in the owners shop in Franklin. As far as I know Tour Supply is just a dealer now.

In my opinion there are many better options out there.

For you that may be true....I own one of the 100 watt heads and cab set ups. I have never been happier with my sound/rig.

the three cabs with needing a separate power amp to run effects so you can fully take advantage of the three cab setup is strange to me. Seems like it should have had an additional built in power amp to run that third triangle cab
.

Jamie, the owner of 3rd Power, has a small device that will allow you to run all three cabs by the single head. Of course that means the w/d/w design doesn't work, but it at least allows for easier use of the 3 cabs together. I don't believe it is in production yet though.

What I have found with my amp is that the "feel" is just as relevant as the "sound". I personally love the sound and all, but the feel of the amp suits my playing style. Obviously that will not be the case for everyone. I've had friends play out of the amp and think the same thing that you did, but I've had a lot more who had the same response as me.

It's definitely a different beast than the Two Rocks. lol

It was built to run wet dry wet with that application with the external stereo amp. However, they also produce a 2x12 cab as well. I had great luck with them and a 4x12. Still waiting on Jamie to finish me up a high gain HLH 100 w/ depth mod.

Thats what it's all about. Being happy with the sound you obtain thru the gear you play. That is what we all strive for. When my friend and I were called by the local dealer to come and check out the best sounding amp ever, the bar was set high. Upon demoing the head and three cab setup with a power amp and some TC effects we both were quite let down by the whole package.

We were both underwhelmed by the head and cabs. Sounded like an average marshall. The clean tones had nothing to offer my ears and the crunch and higher gain tones lacked to me, the three cabs with needing a separate power amp to run effects so you can fully take advantage of the three cab setup is strange to me. Seems like it should have had an additional built in power amp to run that third triangle cab. I thought it was expensive for what it does and that's coming from a guy who likes $5000 Two Rocks .

Either way my opinion is no better than anybody else's and I am glad you are happy. I am happy with my current rig as well. That is a great feeling.

I was not impressed by it either, never heard Jerry sound more mediocre than ever. :aww:

Hi Edin (and fellow rig-talkers),

I really appreciate your inquiry. I've sent a response to your direct email from earlier. Recap: we can produce any of our products for 220V operation.

-------

Even though this thread veered off the original topic, I always appreciate feedback from real players (positive and negative) as it 100% inspires me to continue to push the envelope of design and innovation. To that end, 3RD POWER is now patent-pending on numerous innovative design elements that are aimed at fulfilling our company's mantra: to Create and Deliver Extraordinary Tone.

Although tone is fully subjective, at 3RD POWER, we don't believe our job is done until everyone is delighted. We believe that we know what that means. And, we base this belief as much on my personal and professional experiences as we do by feedback from players who utilize our tone creation tools.

To players that have plugged in and played on any of our gear and found themselves underwhelmed - I fully respect your opinion. I encourage you to build/maintain your relationship with us - connect with us even if we don't make the right gear for you yet.

Ford Thurston is one example of what I mean by this. He and I connected the minute we met - like brothers, really. As much as he loved the HD100, he also needed something else. Something that didn't exist yet. He needed something that would give him control of mids so bold they could "part the sea" (like a brownface deluxe) and something that was as refined as his blackface deluxe - but with a little more power and headroom. Ford put his money where his mouth was. He brought over and left at my house for 6 months - his prized brownface and blackface amplifiers. He even brought over a '59 tweed. I lived with these amplifiers. I smelled their vintage smells. I got familiar with how things occurred as you played them at different volumes. I got familiar with their unique flavors, feels, and balance between headroom and the texture of their grit. I got familiar with where the knobs were located where we felt a particular amp sounded best. I NEVER ONCE TOOK A SCREWDRIVER TO ANY OF THEM TO COPY THEIR CIRCUITRY. Nope. Not one little peek! This was all inspiration, gut and experience. Our code name for this creation was "the Old Best Friend." We wanted this amp to occur like getting together with an OBF... the smile, conversations, handshake, stories... all like an OBF. I developed the American Dream 112 combo amplifier as a result of Ford's inspiration. I also have several patents pending on the innovations contained in the AD112.

In any case, don't take your eye off of us as we'll continue to innovate and develop new solutions. One day we may just hit on the tone you've been looking for.

Cheers,

Jamie

PS - I'm a player too (major label credits and tours). I'm also a recording engineer having tracked Herbie Hancock (grand piano), George Sakelariou (classical guitar) and countless rock, pop and alternative bands. I'm also a mastering engineer with label credits. When I develop products, I'm thinking about how it's going to perform in the studio and on stage. I'm thinking about how it's going to sound in the PA system and how it's going to occur in a club or an arena. I want it to sound SOOOOO good, that your audience runs to the vending table after the show and gobbles up your merchandise so you can put gas in the bus, truck, van or car. Really - I'm thinking about all of this when I create a product!

Hi, I just wanted to say many thanks to all of you here, helping me to find out more about the amps.

I am already in contact with Jamie as you have seen.

I wish that there are many more amp - and guitar builders out there with the same kind of passion about their instruments.

From my experience, not all act like this.
