Inside Dave Friedman’s Shop

I've said it before, have met Dave around 2018 or so and had him mod an amp back around 2011. Was a great guy to talk to and didn't rush me or give me a bunch of bull when I was asking about a mod. He fixed the headshell that busted during shipping and didn't charge me.

You can tell Dave is just a laid back builder but he is one of us (for us older guys from the hair metal years). Because he likes good tone and is a guitarist himself, I think he knows what people would like to see. The amps, guitars IR pedals, and even the buffer bay, etc, all of that is putting out more of what people would like to see and staying involved and looking forward.

Would be cool if he did a collaboration with Nuno.

I needed some advice on my Friedman Cali a few years back, emailed him and he responded a couple of hours later, can't ask for more than that, super helpful dude!

I get good vibes from Dave, like he is a straight shooter.

I also think some of the Friedman amps sound great, though I've never had the pleasure of playing one in person.

Cool to get some insights of Dave's shop, thanks for sharing.
Dave is great fully agree.

@JohnnyGtar I enjoyed your recent videos and your Jose vids. I met Dave in 2024 and had him do a few mods on my BE50. I go by "Walrus" on Youtube and left you a few comments there. It's too bad Dave's amp room was not complete, as I really wanted to try a Dirty Shirley. Also wanted to try the Jose and BE100.

met him in the 90s at his Brauer office on Weddington St to check out egnater stuff and have him troubleshoot my triaxis rig, then went to his next location where he modded my TOL 100 and fanboied over VH’s touring rig at his shop, and finally stopped by the location in the vid which used to be Tone Merchants/Rack Systems Ltd when Mark Day worked there.

Dave has always been nothing but totally cool to me.

I'm ashamed to say that I used to live less than a mile from his shop in North Hollywood. I lived just off Burbank Blvd on a small side street in a small apartment back in 2014. Had I known about Dave, I would have visited his shop way sooner. This was back when you could rent an apartment for 995. They now go for 1700 minimum.

I think Dave is phenomenal at customer support even though he can’t remember anybody. But he gets hammered all day long.

That felt contrived as shit though

Great video. I own a Twin Sister that I got used and a Jose. They are both amazing amps. Dave has great ears and also runs an amazing business with tremendous customer support. Thanks for sharing the video.
