Another thing is the filtering is typically more aggressive since the lower voltage allows you to run the main, and screen caps in parallel vs series on the 100w.
I wouldn't even consider that being anal. I wouldn't be happy with anyone changing stuff in my gear either without asking me first. Sure, there are guitar players who just pick up whatever guitar and play through whatever amp, and don't worry too much about their gear, but I've spent a lot of time figuring out what works for me as I'm sure a lot of you have.
Does anyone actually know which pickup he is using? Or used from AEnima to 10k Days.
JB seems to be the most common answer but I don't think that's confirmed. I've also read it may be a Custom made SD pickup (not a SD Custom) or a SD Distortion.
The caps in the guitar pictured are typical stock caps found in Norlin-era LPs. Again, nothing magical.
Here's a photo of my '79 Silverburst. Look familiar?
Those look like stock neck volume(that he never uses), and tone pots. I have a 1980 all stock and they look the same minus his extra ground wires. Just looks like just the Alessandro bridge vol pot and an old SD Distortion with extra grounding. Nothing super special, the tone is mostly from his amps and hands.
