okay install that bad boy and man it sounds good, but i have been using EMGs for like 3 years now, nothing else.. but my question is will it take some time to get use to the passive MCP solution?? it sounds good but... i dont know.. can someone let me know if hereing actives for that long make it hard to like passives.. like i said i like the sound but my emgs jsut has that sound i like.. so is it me or the pickup...

thanks

It's definitely something that you will always hear. Just have to remind yourself that different doesn't mean worse, just different tools for different tones.

Sorry if it is a silly question, but you did swap out your pots when you changed to actives, right?

That's a tough one to answer. You either like passives or you don't. I am just the opposite. I play passives regularly but every now and then I pick up my Washburn which has an 81 in the bridge, and at first I love it, but within 5 minutes I miss the dynamics and feel of the passives.

Maybe you should try the new EMG 57/66 set which is still active but uses Alnico V mags and retains a more passive "PAF" tone. Or maybe a Hetfield set?

yes i changed the pots..the LTD sc 600 came with passives.. and instead of installing a emg in that guitar and its a pain in the ass to install.. more time consuming.. i wanted to try passives and Ive heard great things about motor city pickups and the solutions.. they sound good really good actually but i think im so use to actives that its in my head.. but i have 3 guitars 1 with a EMG 81 in bridge another with an EMG 85 in bridge its a tele and super bright so the EMG 85 thick and brutal awesome in it. . and now a passive MCP solution.. i know its not the pickup.. I bought a suhr aldrich pup a few months back and didnt like it right off the bat, i didnt give it a chance.. so this one im going to do some A/B testing recording side by side.. and see.. i think i just need to play it more and get out of my head that actives sound better..  but i didnt think it would be this hard..

okay well ive been playing my new guitar with MCP solution and tweaking my amp, for 1 hour now and WOW.. this pup is freaking amazing.. its so clear.. you can here every note ring out.. sustains for days, the low end is SOOOOO tight.. and cleans up really nicely.. i havent A/B the 2 pups yet, but as of right now i really like this pickup.. ALOT

Ah, sorry. I misunderstood, thought you were saying that you pulled EMG's out of the sc600.

No emg can compete with a passive, keep the solution!

Plus 1! The added versatility and dynamics is why I use passives only. I had an EMG set in a guitar I recently got, and couldn't get them out fast enough!

If you take the time to get used to passives, you'll never go back.

yeah give it a little bit of dialing your rig to the pups and you'll start getting it.. and the passives are sensitive to height as well.

^^^^ This!
Pickup height is very important with the Solution.

Yes... this is sooo true, and I find that setting the height with Wade's pickups makes a very big difference.... just a millimeter or two can make the difference between "meh" and "holy shit"!!

i like them closer as well.. but these pickups are freaking amazing.. its hard to describe the awesomeness and brutality of these pups..

There is such thing as too close, the strings don't sustain as long...

okay sorry for the newbie questions but how will i know when i find the right height??? my ears will be like damn that sounds awesome.. lol.. im new to all this sort of stuff..

Email Wade at Motor City and ask what he recommends for height.
