Wonder if a 1/4" to 1/8" cable would work for tuning an electric guitar.

How does it wok. I plugged my iLink cable into i that I use to plug my guitar into Garageband and it didn't work. It just tells me to plug in a microphone.

Thoughts?

Got it... Thanks for the heads up!!! Does the Peterson cable work? Man, I wish they would have custom tunings... I tune to dropped B-flat... Oh well...

Thanks for posting our app! It will hit the App Store tomorrow and will include audio samples to play through the amps/cabs/mics/fx... also, we'll have an "easter egg" in there to turn your own imported direct/dry signals into examples to run through the amps/cabs/mics/fx so get some direct samples ready :) http://www.amplitube.com/irig

Will the cable kit be available tomorrow as well??

Mark

I have the cable for the PRS jam amp...wonder if that will work with this app? The PRS app is a total waste of money. Either the app doesn't work with the cable correctly or the cable itself is crap. Not to mention the amp tones in the app are really bad.

Ideal father's day gift! \m/

No, the cable will ship as planned in very early July. Currently the apps have audio examples to use and audition the gear. You can also use the little easter egg in the app to use your own audio files. Simply import a track as you normally would, then hold the play button down until the timer turns grey. At that point, the track you've imported will be routed through the gear (rather than being a "playalong" track).

AmpliTube for iPhone is now in wide release. Get the FREE version with 3 stompboxes, 1 amp+cabinet, 2 microphones here: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/amplitube-free/id373309342?mt=8

Also there are LE and Full versions:

AmpliTube LE: 5 stompboxes, 1 amplifier + cabinet, 2 microphones - $2.99/€2.39
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/amplitube-le/id373507300?mt=8

AmpliTube: 11 stompboxes, 5 amps + cabinets, 2 microphones - $19.99/€15.99

For those who don't want to wait for the cable, here's is the pinout for the iPhone headphone jack. I'm not sure if IK Multimedia has done anything in terms of impedance, but I already made an interface using a small project box, a 4-Pin 3.5mm jack, 1/4" stereo headphone jack and a 1/4" mono instrument jack and it works great. It's not as slick as the IK Multimedia piece but it'll at least hold me over until the other one ships.

The app crashes immediately after holding down the play button and rerouting the audio source.

This is the ultimate in "thread jacking"... thread is about the Polytuner from TCE and it's jacked by someone from IK_Multimedia... funny. Now all we need is for someone from Peterson to pop in here to talk about their istrobetuner that is on sale for $0.99 right now. :D
