Welcome Simon!

I play drums and guitar and while it was sad to see Nicko retire, I'm glad to see that Steve Harris's drummer Simon Dawson from Steve's other band (British Lion) has taken the drum chair in Maiden. Dude is bringin' it. He's reeeeeeeally good. Of course they sound different...that can't be avoided, but they sound GREAT nonetheless. They're ON FIRE at this gig.

Maiden never interested me, but obviously they're a very talented band. You don't get to their status if you're lame.

I'm seriously diggin' this show with the new drummer. First Maiden show I want to keep listening to.

PS: They played NINE songs that they haven't done in years.

New drummer butchered the Murders in the Rue Mourge intro. They're playing SLOW too. Just an observation bros😂

Edit: New drummer is 66.

Yeah he's an excellent drummer (in his own right) but I don't know if it was the snare or the toms, they need to tone down the hyped scooped tone of it. Nicko also had a looser playing style yet he was precise. I agree with the others .that some of the snare rolls were lagging in parts but it was obvious that Nicko was struggling last tour though so they needed a change if they were to go on. So now can they get rid of Janick??? That guy blows. I hope this tour comes close to me, love that they are pulling older tracks and making them sound fresh again. You can't just play the same damn set for 20 years like GnR' is doing.

Also, one complaint.. new guy isn't riding the Bell on the ride enough. Always loved those signature Nicko pingalings' on key parts of the songs.
